That Yahoo article is some painfully awful science journalism (if you can call it that). Einstein's theory has been proven right before and may well be proven so again. This is merely an additional confirmation of his theory.
Also, not to be overly pedantic, but it's E=mc^2, as in E equals the quantity m times the square of the quantity c.

Little-known true fact: Einstein didn't coin E=mc^2; his original formulation was L=mV^2.
Others started citing his equation as E=mc^2, and Einstein said, "Sure, whatever. That works too."
