After thinking on it a minute, Shane is basically doing a kinder, gentler cancel culture thing, it's "go along with woke or no one is going to pay attention to you" or as the beats used to say "be there or be square".
Myself, I admit I can't get over a schadenfreude reaction. Couldn't happen to a more appropriate victim, former passionate practitioner of shrill cancel-the-other style of advocacy, my way or the highway, where's the outrage, lock em up, etc....
