Man fired from job after dumb counter help almost kills his son by putting peanuts in. "But he didn't say the son had an allergy" is an excuse apparently for putting peanut butter in when asked not to. Merrill Lynch couldn't give the guy some time off to deal with his anger, cuz maybe he used the "n" word while his son's off in the hospital. Brilliant. [...] Two food delivery runners working together were preparing to pick up an order near Financial Place and Ida B. Wells when Gregory Keller, 46, approached them around 12:35 a.m., according to police and prosecutors.

Keller began yelling obscenities and slurs at the alleged victims, who had never seen Keller before, Assistant State’s Attorney Loukas Kalliantasis said. The workers returned to their Ford Escape and drove away.

They then made a U-turn, and an argument broke out between them and Keller when they returned to Financial Place and Ida B. Wells, according to Kalliantasis. That’s when Keller, wearing a distinctive jacket, allegedly pulled out a gun and fired two shots toward the victims. Kalliantasis said the bullets did not strike the victims or their car.

Police searched the area for suspects and found Keller wearing a jacket like the one described by the victims on the LaSalle Blue Line platform, according to the allegations. He had a loaded handgun in his jacket pocket, Kalliantasis said [....]

"Hell's Kitchen" hasn't been a poor neighborhood for many decades. It's within walking distance of the Broadway shows and and pre-Covid had a lot of small restaurants catering to the many high rise apartment buildings developed there to cater to newbie 20-something yuppies moving to new jobs in the city from the heartland, the market rate rents in those(boring) buildings are slightly lower than elsewhere for white box apartments in Manhattan. It actually was quite lively in the warm weather because all those youngin inhabitants can't afford a summer rental out of town but want to get out of the little apartment and have some fun...

Actions to take:

Avoid the area;

Avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people;

Do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; and

If you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area.
