How much do we have to pay to get out of doing all these things twice? B.Dylan

Since his inauguration in January, the Republican Gov. of Virginia, Bob McDonnell, has been busy transforming the Southern commonwealth into a right-wing mecca. The devotee of televangelist Pat Robertson, first issued an executive order excluding gays from state discrimination protections. Now, McDonnell is angering civil rights leaders, by issuing a state proclamation declaring April Confederate History Month. The proclamation calls for Virginians to "understand the sacrifices of the Confederate leaders, soldiers and citizens during the period of the Civil War." Glaringly absent from the language is a reference to slavery. McDonnell knew what he was doing. When asked about the exclusion of anti-slavery statements in his racially charged Confederate manifesto, he responded that slavery was not "significant" enough to be included.

McDonnell defended his Confederate declaration, saying it's intended to promote Virginia "tourism" by drawing attention to the upcoming anniversary honoring Virginia's secession from the Union on April 17, 1861.

"McDonnell said Tuesday that the move was designed to promote tourism in the state, which next year will mark the 150th anniversary of the start of the war. McDonnell said he did not include a reference to slavery because "there were any number of aspects to that conflict between the states. Obviously, it involved slavery. It involved other issues. But I focused on the ones I thought were most significant for Virginia."'

And when Republican Gov. George Allen didn't acknowledge slavery in his proclamation, he apologized in the wake of significant criticism from his constituents and civil rights leaders.

    Okie dokie then.

    Ole McDonnell couldn't wait

    Eee eye eee eye oooooooooooooops

    To praise all the confederates

    Eee eye eee eye ooooooooooooooops

    With a parade here

    And an edict there

    Here a speech

    There a speech

    Everywhere a screech screech

    Old McDonnell took the bait

    Eee eye eee eye oooooooooooooops

Well I could go on for hours with this one folks but I won't. Suffice it to say the Virginia Governor could not help himself. He was going to do a George Allen no matter what.

And guess what? He had to make the same damn retraction Allen did. I wonder if McDonnell has the flag of traitors and nooses for lynchin' them Black folks hanging in his Governor's Mansion?

The Washington Post added this gem yesterday:

This year's proclamation was requested by the Sons of Confederate Veterans. A representative of the group said it has known since it interviewed McDonnell when he was running for attorney general in 2005 that he was likely to respond differently than Warner or Kaine.

"We've known for quite some time we had a good opportunity should he ascend the governorship," said Brandon Dorsey of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Okie dokie then. Just who are these Sons of Confederate Veterans anyway?

The citizen-soldiers who fought for the Confederacy personified the best qualities of America. The preservation of liberty and freedom was the motivating factor in the South's decision to fight the Second American Revolution. The tenacity with which Confederate soldiers fought underscored their belief in the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. These attributes are the underpinning of our democratic society and represent the foundation on which this nation was built.

Today, the Sons of Confederate Veterans is preserving the history and legacy of these heroes, so future generations can understand the motives that animated the Southern Cause. http://www.scv.org/

This was taken right off of its own blog site.  What exactly do those high school history texts look like south of the Mason Dixon? Something like the following perhaps?

In 1860 Southern States sought to preserve rights guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution; the right to keep your militia properly trained and ready to go; the right to tell them Yanks what's what; oh and the right to own as many of them Nigrow People that your pocketbook can bear.

I mean it. WHAT IN THE HELL ARE THESE RACIST FASCIST BASTARDS TEACHIN' THEIR CHILLIN DOWN THERE?

Now somebody with a lot of power got old McDonnell on the phone and told him what's what. That is for sure. And you can almost feeeeeeeeeeel the hubris. I mean what balls to repeat what that fascist  Allen did along with the belated apology. Like I already inquired, I would like to see what 'relics' are in the Virginia Governor's Mansion right now.

"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we will commit the vindication of the cause for which we fought. To your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those principles which he loved and which you love also, and those ideals which made him glorious and which you also cherish."

SONS OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS COMMENT ON CONFEDERATE HISTORY MONTH

Commander-in-Chief Chuck McMichael of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans issued the following statement in light of the recent proclamation by the governor of Virginia restoring the observance of Confederate History Month in Virginia.

"While we are pleased to see heightened media attention to Confederate History Month resulting from the proclamation we are dismayed to see political implications or political correction zeal placed on it. We applaud Governor McDonnell for his courage to do the right thing, as well as all the other officials across the country who have done likewise."

"The SCV is non-political with a primary interest in seeing to it that the accurate history of the Confederacy is observed along with proper respect shown for theConfederate Military personnel who served and died during four years of war against overwhelming odds of more than three to one."

"These observances have been going on for more than a hundred years so it should be no surprise to anyone they continue to grow in scope with each passing year. "Several states by state law observe a holiday for Confederate Memorial Day. Others have state laws establishing Confederate History and Heritage Month.Still others set forth Confederate History Month by proclamation."

"The SCV has set a goal of over one thousand instances of observance of Confederate history in states, counties, parishes, cities and towns throughout
America. In some cases beyond the boundaries of the original Confederacy. These events include proclamations at all levels of government, parades, banquets, balls, re-enactments, school living histories, radio and television interviews, newspaper articles and a series of historical minutes for the media which include each day of Confederate History and Heritage Month. There are observances at cemeteries where Confederate soldiers graves are decorated. Many of our local camps participate in securing proclamations in several communities in their individual areas. (sic, sic, sic, sic) http://sonsofconfederateveterans.blogspot.com/

I discovered two decades ago that that damn Vietnam War was not over. But folks, we are still fighting the Civil War.

Or let me put it this way. THEY, the fascist racist right is still fightin the Civil War. So it is time for the left to arm itself and get ready for the inevitable.

They call My President a communist and a fascist and a socialist.

They call My President an enemy of the people and an enemy of our Constitution.

They openly call for secession while they claim they are defenders of our Constitution. Just like the Confederate Fascists did one hundred and fifty years ago. It matters not that the Dems won a majority in both houses of Congress, that our President was not selected by the Supreme Court but by the electorate. The stinking evil right wing claims to be defenders of a constitution they do not even believe in.

They openly despise the NAACP and every single minority rights organization.

They openly wish to teach their rotten fascist propaganda to their children; to all children in this country with a smile on their face and nothing but evil in their hearts.

Their MSM leaders openly call for violence in the streets; they openly called for riots at the Democratic Convention in Denver; they openly called for the murder of people like Michael Moore; they openly call for the killing of our tax collectors; they openly call for the denial of all the rights guaranteed under our Bill of Rights except for the right to kill us or threaten us with their guns and their pretended right under the Tenth Amendment to ignore all constitutionally enacted legislation.

Their political leaders are ill read, ill educated and ill suited to represent their own constituent's needs--or else they are just damn liars.

There are military formations and threats set for the 19th of this month at our nation's Capitol. Speeches will be made at these fascist gatherings that threaten the rest of our citizenry in our homes.

There will be violence in the streets once again. And the traitors will once again seek to undermine our democracy just like they did 150 years ago.
