Tax cuts for business are the order of the day. Meanwhile, the state budget deficit must be carried on the backs of the workers. They can keep their jobs, Walker says. But "jobs" will be redefined as "something to do with whatever time you have available," nothing more. Wages? Benefits? Non-negotiable. Wisconsin is "Open for Business." Sucks to be you.
The Ship of State in Wisconsin is beginning to resemble the Armistad with Scott Walker at the wheel. The owners stand on deck, anticipating days of great pleasure to come with the warm sun on their back and cool sea breezes tussling their hair. Meanwhile, all sailors aboard are pressed into service as galley slaves.
"Want a job?" Captain Walker yells, booting the nearest sailor in the ass while ordering them all to get belowdecks. "Find me another oar, and I'll create a job."

How the hell can this guy pass a bill that basically removes any collective bargaining rights? And now he wants to have the National Guard ready to face down labour? What the hell is it with these assholes?
Let's hope Wisconsin smashes this fucker.

It really is incredible, quinn. It's like I don't even recognize the place anymore. Given Wisconsin's place in history as the birthplace of so much of the Labor Movement that defined our politics these last hundred years, these retrenchments toward corporate fascism and actual serfdom are stunningly demoralizing.
Napolitiano's replacement with Brewer in AZ presented opportunity for an uncontrolled GOP government to show what they've got in the area of Immigration Policy and the Culture Wars.
And now in Wisconsin, the same dynamic is showing what an unfettered GOP offers in terms of the Class War between Labor and "those who matter" (Wall Street and the Chamber of Commerce).
Don't read this as an endorsement of the Dems as an antidote to the GOP's wholesale promotion of corporate fascism. (Preemptive announcement that you're willing to call out the National Guard to enforce Union-busting? YeeGads!) The Dems have done little to reverse the trend that has brought us to this point in our history. Instead, they have simply arrested the downward slide with a pretense of representing the "little guy" while making certain they first do nothing to alienate their corporate campaign contributors. Feckless cowards at best. Complicit fascists in reality, selling us all out in pursuit of their primary objective: Getting reelected with the help of the same "monied constituency" that supports the "other side."
Something's gotta give. This shit can't continue.
