    WHEN I'M 64

I was thinking about the question “why”?

My granddaughter is about to be two years of age in a couple of months and in a couple of months I shall be 64.

    WHEN I'M 64!

So I have constructed a scenario where I might read to her from Homer or whatever without pix and without media!

And she will not sit on my lap!

    Why do you like me?

Dems Are Dogs, Repubs Are Cats: An Allegory?

So, I'm in the kitchen. All four dogs are in the kitchen with me. It's morning and that means it's time for cookies. The dogs all know this and they do not let it slip my mind. Ever.

All four furry dog butts are planted on the tiled floor in a row, all four tails going back and forth like they are competing in a synchronized tail wagging contest. Their expectant looks always make me smile and this scene is always the perfect way to start my day.

A Pi-Eyed Friday Afternoon at the Haikulodeon

Here's this week's heap of haikus:

    Once a year, Pi day
comes around. It should be squared.
    But never mind that.

    ( 3-14 is Pi day. )

    The bare trees seem poised,
    waiting for Spring to arrive.
    Spring is running late.

A Friday Afternoon of Love at the Haikulodeon

Here's this week's heap of haikus:

    A poet wrote: "I
carry your heart in my heart."
    Love was ever thus.

The Ballad of Baby and Klepto Ray

In March of 2009, Baby had just flown cross-country from visiting her sister in Seattle, bringing a rubbing of Jimi Hendrix's headstone, and a nice chunk of hash which she had tucked into a private place available only to ladies.  While she and I were upstairs at the farm enjoying some quality time, our then host, Ray, pocketed the hash.  Naturally she went nuts thinking she had simply lost it, and finally left the farm to return home.  Ray proudly produced the hash.

Asian Radish, Carrot, and Turnip Pickles

The last couple of weeks I have had a large daikon radish in my CSA box. Also there was carrots, hakurie turnips, pablano and jalapenos.

Queen Elizabeth will soon be appearing at her coronation following the death of her lisping father.

    Hakurei Turnip and Apple Salad

Now you are probably wondering what a hakurei turnip is?  It has been cultivated in Japan for thousands of years.  I had never seen or tasted one until it was in my CSA share.

Dolphins may be the second smartest species on Earth

Not sure where to post this, as it is Zach Weiner's joke, not mine, but from medium.com, here's a hilarious perspective on dolphin intelligence:

I don't want top post all of it so as to avoid copyright infringement, but I'll post just enough more to get you hopefully hooked:

Depression Recipe for Sweet Potato Pie

My little taste testers won't admit to sticking a finger in the center of the pie.

I promised Ramona my sweet potato pie recipe last November, which I forgot all about it until Richard commented that he might buy a pie. That got me started thinking I should make one because I had every thing I needed for a quick sweet potato pie. Keep in mind that a sweet potato pie is easy to make and you can't ruin it.

Watermelon Italian Ice - Refreshing dessert

A wonderful way of enjoying watermelon is to make Italian Ice. Sometimes the watermelon is just too much to eat. The first of December I received a large wonderful tasting watermelon from my share of the local CSA farm.
