Invasion of Ukraine imminent

The point of those white marks (in general - I am not sure about this case) had been in Soviet Army and now Russian Army quite clear.

They were used always whenever the enemy had the same type of vehicles as friendly (such as in Prague 1968).

“The United States intelligence community assesses with low to moderate confidence that Russian intelligence officers sought to encourage Taliban attacks U.S. and coalition personnel in Afghanistan in 2019 and perhaps earlier,” a senior Biden administration official said on Thursday, reversing previously “confident” pronouncements by his predecessor Donald Trump’s administration.

According to the Daily Beast‘s Adam Rawnsley and national security reporter Spencer Ackerman: “Translated from the jargon of spyworld, that means the intelligence agencies have found the story is, at best, unproven—and possibly untrue.”

If Moon Over Alabama is sad, I'm ecstatic. The Carnegie site is pretty good. The result is largely status quo but standdown of military threat, which lets Kiev focus on EU/economics, Donbas - a tiny and less-and-less important coal district - is still in the doghouse but not a big threat, kick the can down the road. All good. There's no real strategic value to Russia taking Donbas. Mariupol is probably not worth the outrage (there'd be much more than with Crimea).

Events: Heavy gunfire is occuring around the area of the U.S. Embassy and residential compounds adjacent to the Trutier area of Tabarre. All Embassy personnel have been instructed to remain indoors and shelter-in-place until further notice. All others should avoid the area.

Actions to take:

Avoid the area;

Avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people;

Do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; and

If you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area.
