Remember Obama's "Free Trade" Deal with Colombia. Like all "free trade" deals, it is accelerating the climate crisis. There are two main reasons: The primary is that free trade means much more goods are transported using filthy fossil fuels. The other reason is that lots of other countries don't enforce environmental protection laws if they even have any.

and this op-ed, titled Colombia Is the World’s Deadliest Place for Environmentalists, is by Blanca Lucía Echeverry and Andrew Miller. Ms. Echeverry is a human rights lawyer with decades of experience. She served as the deputy ombudsman for Indigenous affairs and ethnic minorities in Colombia’s Ombudsman’s Office. Mr. Miller is advocacy director for Amazon Watch and has collaborated with threatened campesino and Indigenous communities in Putumayo.
is a very good piece with a lot of interesting details about problems in Colombia including about human rights a corrupt president, and armed gangs protecting drug territory and other territory, allowing all kinds of mining and other destructive businesses, serious deforestation and as the title says, the targeting of environmentalists. It also mentions a bit about what the Biden administration has said regarding.
I DON'T SEE ANYTHING ABOUT FREE TRADE PRO OR CON.
