Despite getting very little public attention, the twin bills in Congress labeled HR1 and S1 are arguably the most important pieces of legislation drawn up in a generation.

How about #SAFEact?

Declaring as Ms. Cohn does, that we are inundated with lies is obvious to the point of being pointless except to open the subject of what do do about it. If your point is that the mechanics of voting and vote counting and vote verification are important too, and need to be reformed, then we are in total agreement about that. If your point is that Republicans killing the safe vote act is a black mark against them, I again agree. I believe that it is extremely important that the mechanics of the voting system be upgraded so that election results are believed by the vast majority of people. Plenty of Democrats have had plenty of reasonable suspicion about computer voter tampering in past elections.
I did not hear anything in the short clip of Ms.Cohn's ideas that I disagree with. [There is though, one thing I could not understand after four or five attempts with no cc available: What is the entity which she called "the largest and most problematic murder machine vender"? ES_ _ something or other?] Cohn goes on to talk about the deluge of lies and propaganda which must be addressed. I have to idea how to keep people from lying and how to keep others from hearing the lies without unacceptable inroads on the First Amendment. I very much agree with her that people should learn to recognize propaganda. That would certainly help. I part somewhat with her making dispensers of propaganda synonymous with "bad actors", although the propagandists we quickly recognize usually are bad actors, by [our] definition, because we see them on an opposing side. I believe that if and when a person does come to recognize propaganda they will see it is ubiquitous, including its use by those pushing whatever side we are on. Grim's views and concerns and those of Cohn as expressed in the two pieces seem to overlap and reinforce each other.

Mostly ES&S machines need auditing, investigating. The rest is gravy. ES&S dominates the voting machine industry, but we're spending all our time swatting away specious lies about Dominion, rather than noticing for example how *extremely* poorly Mitch McConnell was doing in his race, and how he pulled out an amazing easy victory - far more pronounced than Hillary's shifting a few points in PA/MI/WI. There's been a history of Republicans getting cozy with voting machine manufacturers, and some specific disturbing events like in Ohio 2004 (the *most* disturbing was the removal of voting machines in largely black precincts, which drowns out the possibility of internet-connected machines when they shouldn't be).
Anyway, ES&S. Overall it looks like machines are much much better audited than before, even 2016, but still, some closer scrutiny would still help.
