Quite the Libertarian you are.
Meanwhile DeSantis turns a simple "little kids shouldn't be at adult shows" into an anti-trans/drag show attack, reviving 75-year-old více law (seems Huffpost couldve reported on this quite a bit more sanely but just wants to give the Right more wins):

I heard from someone once that the women in porn literally cannot do the "work" without being on drugs and the way that they are recruited sure sounds a lot like trafficking. It being relegated back to the dungeons of a pawn shop or the Dark Web sound a lot better than being blasted on every 12 year olds device.
by Orion on Sat, 07/30/2022 - 2:06pm
You know it's 2022 - there are different people with different taste. Some women like getting fucked for fun, keep the cameras rolling. Others it's a job, others it's exploitation or a type of slavery & extortion. I had a bartender at a strip joint tělo ke she got treated better by the Johns than men in regular clubs she worked in. I'm sure there are strippers who do lots of drugs, but i quite doubt it's anything close to 100%. We're a long way from Boogie Nights. (which is a pretty funny movie, btw)
by PeraclesPlease on Sat, 07/30/2022 - 2:13pm
You're right. It's 2022, not 1992.
,Most big names in it regret it or are in jail. I heard an interview with James Deen where he said he was upset kids could access his work.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4467472/James-Deen-questions-ag...
Also, there's a significant amount of child pornography and rape on PornHub and they've lost funding due to a refusal to clean it up.
Having an open channel for anything sex seems insane when trafficking is a thing. It's like having an unregulated port that pirates could do whatever they want at.
Also, Mia Khalifa basically said she was exploited. She is still involved in the same business but now owns her own operation.
by Orion on Sat, 07/30/2022 - 4:07pm
Again you mix several different things. Stormy Daniels seems to like her work, but undoubtedly wants more control, less exploitation. Which says what? Is she enjoying, like Mia Khalifa? Vs an east European or other brought here to "au pair" or other work & then their passport is taken and they're essentially abused slave whores, possibly with drugs forced on them... What about a single mother who needs the cash, doesn't want to, but beats the alternatives for self & kids? Sure, in 10 years maybe social benefits will make that less necessary, but meantime...
James Deen doesn't want kids to see his porn - which changes what? He doesn't like doing porn? I don't think the 3-year-old should be lolled around a naked adults performance, whether the kid "understands what's going on" or not - there's an unhealthy vibe for a tot for sure. Who's advocating different?

That industry also has trouble making money due to internet distribution, opening it up even more to criminality. I think everyone all around would be better off it was restricted to brick and mortar specialty shops.
The internet as a whole was a mistake, everything except Dagblog just kidding.
by Orion on Sat, 07/30/2022 - 4:26pm
The internet has growing pains - surprise surprise. So burn it all down? Super-regulate it like the Chinese do? Which part of freedom do you like or can you endure?
by PeraclesPlease on Sat, 07/30/2022 - 4:48pm
The function of freedom is to free someone else, so if it's enslaving someone or impairing their faculties in some way, I say nix it.
by Orion on Sat, 07/30/2022 - 5:21pm
If momma needs cash for the kids she might sell her ass. Is she better off turning tricks or letting the kids go hungry? Sure, would be great not to have unsavoury choices. But Svetlana came to the US cuz dollars pay better than rubles - stay home in Russia where sanctions are cutting in or dance nude in the US where the g-string comes home full of dollars? If she spoke English she might even get a "real job". But they're not my tits, so not sure why I'm deciding. Sure, maybe gov will pony up, but i read an article yesterday how Alabama for one loads up the poor with lots of fees instead of an income/wealth tax on the wealthier. That's the reality, not the wishful thinking.
"Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose..."? Climbing the ladder to survival also means restricting other options. Can't choose everything.

These studies have little comprehension of the economy that exists outside of the west. They just see that western investment is down, as if that part of the world has no history of surviving without Europe.
When McDonald's left, a Russian copycat popped up in its place. Remember what the Chinese were able to do through copying? And rember that America sabotaged that brand itself since 1992 with various documentaries correctly portraying it as unhealthy.
Orientalism. There's a reason eastern despots bother us so much. They operate with a logic that was supposed to vanish after the Enlightenment and yet, there they are, still defiant.
by Orion on Sat, 07/30/2022 - 9:48pm
Now you're just making shit up. It's one thing to take over a McDonalds chain with Russian equivalents - another to replace chip-based phones, industrial control equipment, financial companies and whatever else that comes with foreign supply chain and unique expertise. Especially when a good part of your youthly manpower and brainpower is off fighting a doomed war. Who's going to buy Russian high tech exports that the EU usually takes? Africa can't make use of them, China doesn't need them. Middle East already has sources.
And the energy swap isn't so advantagoues, as the chars you disparage show.
From Business Insider on the Yale study:
by PeraclesPlease on Sun, 07/31/2022 - 3:03am
Peracles, there's an entire economy of corruption that makes sanctions pointless. It didn't work on Saddam Hussein, eventually they had to just invade the place, and the Castro regime is still there. The Kim regime is there too.
The USSR fell because multiple leaders were collaborating with the West.
by Orion on Sun, 07/31/2022 - 4:49am
They weren't trying to destroy Iraq's economy - they were trying to isolate Hussein militarily. Remember "oil for food"?

This is what I am talking about: https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/29/africa/sudan-russia-gold-investigation-cm...
by Orion on Sun, 07/31/2022 - 12:54pm
So because Russia replaces a couple bill in Sudan, hundreds of billion elsewhere are pointless? Add it up, do the math. Sanctions largely kept Hussein where he needed to be in the 90s.
by PeraclesPlease on Sun, 07/31/2022 - 2:31pm
It's actually possible that Africa is the richest continent. The corruption is just on such an extreme level that you can't assess where it even is. Those countries flub their statistics in order to get aid money, which the leaders them take for themselves to add to the money they have absorbed from their country, making them stupid rich.
And Russia, being more ancient than us, has access to such countries that doesn't involve the level of ... Intervention we have to have to have to access to them. I wouldn't underestimate it.
by Orion on Sun, 07/31/2022 - 3:17pm
What the fuck is this again - people research shit about Africa all the time We just accept statistics from Africa as accurate without digging in and estimating? and what do you mean by "richest" - most potential? actual GDP? Be specific.
And fuck this stupid "Russia is more 'ancient' than us" bright-eyed worship - Russia didn't know dick about Africa until the post-war period.
Can we get back to contemplating and looking around before posting more brainfarts? It's piling high and deep of late. Add some fucking links, references, perspective - question *YOURSELF* first.
53 countries in Africa *together* make up smaller GDP than #7 France (which has 1/8th the US GDP).
30% of that is Arab North Africa, so all of Sub-Saharan Africa is around #13 for Australia & Iran, relatively tied. Russia's in the same park - a bit above or below depending on year and whose stats, or was before sanctions hit.

We balance "right" with freedoms, etc. Is it right to have to clean out deep friers year-round in hot uncomfortable conditions for $5 an hour to survive? Or be an immigrant getting $3 or whatever to redo a roof in the hot southwest sun? Or MMA fighting with atrocious injuries, playing in the NFL with heavy chance of TBI? Coal miners getting lung disease or risking shaft collapse, long periods in cramped hot dangerous horrid conditions? (and lung disease from smoking is still the highest terminator). So it's ok to rent off every part of our bodies and minds under abusive or usurious conditions except our genitals, even if we have fun doing it or simply need the money for important things?
by PeraclesPlease on Sun, 07/31/2022 - 2:46pm
This thread seems absurd to me because you two are arguing about what the porn business was like 10 years ago!!!
Didn't you ever hear of like OnlyFans.com? Is our grandpas keeping up about how all the girls are paying for their college tuition and the gay guys are paying for those fancy outfits? Geez, you don't even hafta go there, don't you see the straight-out come on videos of fucking straight and gay that get missed by the moderators on Twitter(and other social media, I presume)?? I.E., want more? visit me on Only Fans. Not to mention the tons of drooling replies if the tweet is framed as a question.
Orion especially you seem all het up with olden times, read about it long ago and never forgot it, the sex slavery, the porn by the big giant money making porn biz, all het up about that (gotta be honest, you seem so obsessed by what happened years ago in Seattle or something it comes off to me like unconscious prurient interest) WELL SURPRISE SURPRISE GOMER, that ain't the case anymore anyhow
Well it's 2022 grandpas, and the change has come. Old porn biz is over, new porn biz is free lance entrepreneur by the performer themself, they chose what to do and they chose their customers.
I can't see the Supreme Court nor state laws doing a damn thing about it. Just as likely as they start outlawing Viagara. Not gonna happen. (Not even to dying traditional porn. A reminder that one of the Justices was purportedly once a big fan of "Long Dong Silver")

for chrissake every frigging female involved in the huge rap industry dresses, both personally and professionally, like porn stars used to. he should at least have noticed that.
Even pop. Look at every single picture and video connected with Beyonce's new album. All basically just like porn stars of old. Actually now that I think of it, worse - Linda Lovelace wouldn't have dared to wear the hooker-like outfits that Beyonce does. Her body is for sale, it's part of the whole brand you get. Started way back when with like Janet Jackson, but now it's standard for any BIPOC star.

We saw it coming some time ago, loose morals on TV, in space...
Mars. Needs. Women. Nothing less will do. RIP, Lt. Uhura, ship's log 2022.
by PeraclesPlease on Sun, 07/31/2022 - 5:53pm
Lt. Uhura's space recruiter legacy:
Nichols shared the story of her interaction with [Martin Luther] King as well during a 2011 episode of PBS’ “Pioneers in Television.”
“He was telling me why I could not [resign],” she recalled on the show in 2011. “He said I had the first nonstereotypical role, I had a role with honor, dignity and intelligence. He said, ‘You simply cannot abdicate. This is an important role. This is why we are marching. We never thought we’d see this on TV.’”
Nichelle Nichols as Lt. Nyota Uhura and William Shatner as Capt. James T. Kirk in the 1968 “Star Trek” episode "Plato's Stepchildren."
CBS PHOTO ARCHIVE VIA GETTY IMAGES
The “Drunk History” clip also covers how Nichols made history in November 1968, when her “Star Trek” character kissed Capt. James T. Kirk, played by white actor William Shatner — which is often credited as the first interracial kiss on American television.
Black touches on how Nichols dedicated decades of her life to advocating for space exploration as well, particularly among women and minorities.
Nichols launched a consultant firm, Women in Motion, which partnered with NASA to recruit minority and female personnel for the space agency. Her recruits included Guion Bluford, the first African American astronaut in space; Sally Ride, the first female American astronaut; and Mae Jemison, the first Black woman to travel into space.

Can't remember details, but one of the other porn/dating/whatever sites backed off a year ago, basically leaving trans or other vulnerable niches in the lurch, no place to go. Likely good that Only Fans didn't step away. May not be my community, but it's someone's.

I see from this tweet right now in my feed that one site is transangelsnetwork.com -
Twitter User "Shemale Fun/@TS_PlayAround @ tweeted 53m ago this porn short from the same
It's real soft porn, fucking included, in 1.41 minutes. The only warning on Twitter, where it was copied, and can be watched,( it's basically an advert, i.e. if you like it, go to transangelsnetwork for more) is one that the video is *sensitive content*.
You will get these things in your feed at a regular clip if you just watch one or two over a couple months and don't have any special preference settings on your account.
If you go to the user account you get this warning
It's basically unstoppable unless you want to have China-style internet access, and even in that case the savvy know the workarounds.. VERY NAIVE TO THINK IT CAN BE STOPPED, just not gonna happen, it's human nature and an awful lot safer than "the oldest profession."

You know there is a binary here of illegal versus legal, but I want to throw this out
..
As you know, I grew up in the northwest. Some really fucked up shit goes on there with trafficking. Teenage girls being kidnapped and basically turned in to slaves. Evil shit by evil people.
We know about that evil shit. Catholic church stuff. R Kelly stuff. Stuff that really has nothing to do with sex but is about power, control and humiliation.
Now, in the southwest, one of my buddies was actually a bit of a dirty old man. He was married for 30 years but admitted to going to Las Vegas and doing his thing. I never smelled evil on him like I did in that in grunge shit hole.
There's a world of difference between these and we know it.
With sites like PornHub, all of the above is posted on there and it's up to the site to clean it up, which it doesn't.

You know, progressives love to take on the civil libertarianism on sexual matters, but up until the late 1950s, during the "Progressive Era," people had some sense when it came to sex. It's only when everything catered to the market that we eventually reached the point where an 8 year old could witness hardcore pornography.
by Orion on Tue, 08/02/2022 - 5:27am

listen bub as someone who was actually there, it seems to me you often simplify complex cultural trends from the 60's 70's and 80's as if you read one article about it and you got it all figured out. Yes porn "came out" once and for all from the dark naughty underbelly of society (where it once was relegated to bachelor parties, frat parties, trips to Paris and Larry Flynt) with Deep Throat showing in major movie houses BUT at the same time there was a giant angry division in "progressivism" between those in the nascent feminist movement who thought porn was degrading to women and those in the nascent feminist movement who were strongly pro-sexual freedom.
So much so that to blame "progressives" strikes as ridiculous.
And if you go back further to the 50's, if you are talking about married couples you'd be surprised at how many were interested in livening up their sex life a bit with some naughty stuff (once you took those G.I.'s away from the farm and sent them around the world - i.e., once they've seen Pareee...)
by artappraiser on Tue, 08/02/2022 - 1:48pm
as for current culture, very much looks to me like Larry Flynt won, all the wimmin making money off of pop culture are basically selling their meat along with their music, and it better be young meat, and if they don't, they don't interest the gals who are also interested in selling their meat
from today's trending on Twitter
Get back to me when Ella Emhoff elite white girl frumpy style is all the rage and the youngins start listening to sweet folk music again, put flowers in their hair and practice FREE (as in "no charge") love.
You really can't blame boomers for basically letting sleazy #ghetto culture win, we didn't do that!
by artappraiser on Tue, 08/02/2022 - 1:59pm
as far as using an individual to symbolize how trashy American pop culture has become, I might go with Quentin Tarantino, who turns out was born in 63, so theoretically qualifies as borderline boomer, but to me he totally represents Gen X. Spent years working as a video store clerk, waiting for his true generation to meet up with him and celebrate all that is trashy. Salivate about sex slave stories and the like while decrying them....imagining violence is fun, etc.
