Comes to mind: does anyone in the U.S., much less on Dagblog, care about Africa? It's a whole continent. Far from not being involved with it, the U.S. military has a whole command devoted to it. But everyone's only got a opinion about little ol' Afghanistan.

Cameron Hudson has an interesting bio: Mostly Africa. Former CIA, Former State Department, Former White House. Still recovering. Currently @ACAfricacenter. Significant number of followers, too, especially for such a bio.! (Ah, "white privilege" still exists in this field? )

The biggest problem is tripping population by 2100. Good luck with that. (And yes, it's our problem as well)

During a Met Gala with a theme of ("In America, a lexicon of fashion")
this absolutely frigging stunning new "Hollywood star" who could equal (if not best) any in the past, just happens to be Kenyan
while this popular American music personage is doing a mix of Elvis Presley #Ghetto skank and 1980's drag ball:
We are so screwed unless we get some more African immigrants fast! They get American culture.
P.S. AOC was there, participating. I can't see it as a smart thing for her to do in any way, shape or form. Really a bonehead decision all around, no matter what she was trying to do, it ended up like flipping a finger to nearly every demographic group.
edit to add: Lupita's dress was inspired by denim fabric so it fit the theme perfectly. On second thought, Megan Thee was maybe trying to commemorate how referring to women as "hos" has become ubiquitous in this country?

That's *Drama* Denim. And "fierce". Simply fierce. In a multi-dimensional way.

PP posted a news item yesterday about strange "terrorism" related "lynching" and other things going on in rural Nigeria, here on the Covid thread, here's another similarly strange one, like from another planet, you can't really make much sense of it
Really does put our own urban elite vs. rural people supposed troubles into context. Comparatively, we have nothing to complain about, really, all is well and most people get along and get by, no need to abandon homes and get the hell out of a twilight zone...

A reminder Taliban did this too as 1 tactic - so if Biden had delayed leaving, it was lights out in the city
