On this day in history 75 years ago, photos were taken and publicized of the savage beating that took place on the overpass leading to Ford Motor's Rouge Plant in Dearborn. These photos (click on the link) gave view of the tactics of Harry Bennett - the man in charge of the Ford Motor Company security forces - causing public opinion to swing in the UAW’s favor.
Today, when I hear "Forward" from some quarters, I'm compelled to think backwards into our labor history. These pictures from 1932, after all, are very precisely what "Divide and Conquer" corporatism looks like.
