The Real Terror in the War on Terror

Was just watching C-Span. The topic was; should we get out of Afghanistan? I was happy to hear 90% of the callers were stating facts that I have been aware of since the jets hit the World Trade Center. The policies being invoked in the name of the protection of our freedoms and way of life are not what they claim to be; by a long shot.

What the vested interests in these policy decisions are doing is using the Arabs as Hitler used the Jewish people to gain control through fear to foster a blinding form of nationalism. I say blinding because a vast amount of people cannot or will not see the end game. This end game and the real prize to be had in the War on Terror is of course MONEY. By acting as our protectors government contractors can rape the American taxpaper without him even knowing he's being violated. The justification is carefully laid out in the form of one of the most powerful weapons known; FEAR.

After World War II there have been only brief moments when America hasn't had some sought of an enemy or threat being pertrayed to us by our leadership. These threats have the effect of inciting a fiece sense of nationist pride. This is how control is maintained and justifcaition is established. Just tell anyone, especially an American, someone is out to get him. He'll be ready to kick some ass in a heart-beat. To bad it's his ass that gets kicked via less resources for society and more for the so-called protection; which is being doled out to profiteers all to willing to steal your tax dollars via some nice fat juicy government contract. Halliburton is a prime example of this type of corruption. Ever wonder why the contracts for actions in Iraq were "no-bid contracts". Whatever happened to the Army fighting the war? Now you have contracted mercenaries earning vast amounts of money for these warfeeding companys.  As for "Nation Building" or "Bringing Democracy to Other Lands", ever wonder what kind of bang we're getting for our buck. Bet it's not as big a bang as the kickbacks these warmongers are getting.

In closing just wanted to say I feel the War on Terror is a manipulation by the well-connected, to basically rape the American treasury in the name of "Protecting the American Way of Life"  Don't be fooled; money is the goal, fear is the tool.

This country will run itself off a cliff chasing these spectres of  fear. This was no doubt what bin Laden had in mind. Perhaps he knew that by creating such a percieved threat he could get greed and manipulation of a bad situtation as allies, and maybe even win a war - WITH A SINGLE STRIKE ?

Every war that there has ever been has been promoted by fear. You think that FDR didn't exploit anti-German and anti-Japanese sentiment in WWII?

The difference is the extent to which the threat is exaggerated or even fabricated. The threat from Hussein's WMDs was fabricated. The threat from Al Qaeda was not, though it was exaggerated.

    Yes Genghis,

this is an old ploy. It's even been suggested that the Maine was blown up by us to get the public to O.K the Spanish American War. You are right about the expanding extent of these deceptions. It seem what little honor there is in war and it's justifcation has been totally replaced by the quest to take a bad situation and make it profitable.

As stated in my piece, Dick Chaney and his boys at Haliburtan had their eyes on the prize from the get-go. I knew when the truth came out on the Yellow-Cake story, what the real motivation was. Such a shame this is type of leadership this country is forced to accept. This as you say was pure fab.

While I agree that Al-Qaeda is a real threat; here again is an enemy of our own creation. These people, as most of the terrorist organizaitons, are reflections of the resentment brought about by our exploitation of riches belonging to others. We go in; buy the leadership and make off with the loot, leaving the people with nothing to show for it but destroyed landscapes and polluted rivers and water tables.

But things have now changed. Using the Bush Doctrine, America can go where it wants and takes what it likes; all in the name of self presevation. Using this tool, could it be possible that any Arab nation that has what we want will come under the gun by portraying them as a threat?

Yes profit has replaced what little honor there once was in the reasoning for war. And as we both agree and which has been proven for thousands of years - FEAR BLAZES THE TRAIL TO RICHES !!
