MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT
(St. Nicholas)
As if their lives hadn’t been thrown into enough turmoil when their house was foreclosed on and their family became homeless, two Pennsylvania students learned last Monday that they were no longer welcome at the school they had attended their entire lives because the campground they were living in was located just outside of town...
That shouldn’t be a problem under federal law, which allows homeless students to remain enrolled in the school they attend, even if extenuating circumstances forced them to live outside of the limits. Indeed, for more than two years, the two students were allowed to continue their education at the Easton Area School District, giving them stability in an otherwise-tumultuous situation.
A pre-existing condition would be then you calling up your insurance agent and saying, "I'd like to get collision insurance coverage on my car." And your insurance agent says, "You've never had that before, why would you want it now?" And you say, "Well I just had a wreck, it was my fault, and I want the insurance company to pay for the repairs to my car." And that's the exact same thing on pre-existing insurance.
“But one of the things I’ve talked to the secretary of agriculture about: Why don’t you have the kids pay a dime, pay a nickel to instill in them that there is, in fact, no such thing as a free lunch? Or maybe sweep the floor of the cafeteria — and yes, I understand that that would be an administrative problem, and I understand that it would probably lose you money. But think what we would gain as a society in getting people — getting the myth out of their head that there is such a thing as a free lunch,” he said.

SCROOGE
Are there not enough workhouses?
(SCROOGE)
Practically, everyone of these kids shooting up schools is inspired by something to do with leftism.
SCROOGER
"The media is beside itself," he said. "They don't know what to do-- they're conflicted.... The media's jealousy, envy, hatred for me has driven them into the arms of the Pope!"

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told “Fox News Sunday” that long-term jobless benefits only hurt the unemployed by “causing them to become part of this perpetual unemployed group in our economy."
On the other hand, Gohmert said, poor people were using food stamps to buy food that other Americans could not afford. He claimed his “broken-hearted” constituents had repeatedly told him they had seen people use food stamps to buy king-crab-legs/
HAPPY SCROOGE
A remarkable boy...a wonderful boy!

THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST
WE SHOULD ABOLISH SOCIAL Security?
Rand Paul and Rick Perry believe that Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid are unconstitutional/
We need to go back to the gold-standard/
THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT?
Let them eat cake.
We should want to keep the long-term unemployed attached to the labor force until the economy picks up, more jobs become available, and they can find work. We should not want today’s long-term unemployed to permanently exit the labor force simply because their UI benefits expire. Why? Because many may end up on government assistance until they reach retirement age. That is worse for them, worse for the economy, and more expensive for the federal government over the long term.
“It’s an additional cost within this budget agreement,” he said on the program. “I think the thought always was that would be handled separately. So I’m glad to hear my colleague Dick Durbin say that that’s not necessarily a sticking point in this because I think there are different ways to look at it.”
THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS FUTURE
(RNS) Harold Camping, the radio preacher who convinced thousands of followers that Jesus would return on May 21, 2011, to usher in the end of the the world, has died, according to a statement released late Monday (Dec. 16) by his Family Radio network. (He was 92.)
THE END OF THE WORLD IS NIGH!
Melting ice caps, global warming, increased prison population, loss of privacy per NSA, growing richer classes versus the middle class....
Ahhhhhhhhhh, to hell with it:
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL DAGBLOGGERS.
(One thought, we must think the best of people's intentions lest we come to believe that Scrooge becomes a pedophile or pederast. Hahhahahahah)
Comments
I could see Rand supervising the drone fleet in Medieval England looking for pickpockets and starving orphans. The 3 ghosts of Christmas would not be enough for these guys.
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas back at ya!

There are some times when I'll discover something and think, against all reasonable odds, that I'm the only one who knows about it.
Though radio is a broadcast medium, listening to the radio in the car (or even at home alone) can somehow encourage that thought. It's an intimate medium.
Such was the case for me with Mr. Camping. My life takes me up and down Rte 95 quite a bit, and there are long stretches where there isn't much to listen to.
Even just flipping the dial would often bring me to his program, and something about his voice--its quality and certainty--made me want to listen.
He'd take question after question and dispatch each one, often with a mild reprimand that amounted to saying the questioner didn't know what he was talking about.
He believed that a simple statement of the truth was enough to set the questioner free him from his ignorance. Not infrequently, the truth was arrived at through mathematical calculations based on biblical verses and events.
No fire and brimstone, though he clearly believed in both; it wasn't a part of his pitch as far as I could tell. Just a cool reading of the indisputable facts laid out in the Bible.
Never imagined he'd be so bold as to predict the end of the world in our lifetimes ...let alone in a few months from now! Wow, now THAT was exciting. And even though he adjusted the date once, he never pulled any punches. Never said that he hadn't meant what he clearly had meant. And then his final apology and repentance for having made a sinful statement.
(Wish I'd been smart enough to start a post-Rapture animal adoption service.)
But his sudden fame with this prediction brought me up a bit short because I realized I was not the only one who listened to this guy.

Well, what gets to me is that the end IS nigh for all of us but certainly when one reaches the golden age of 90.
It is like he wished that everyone would go out WITH him. hahaahahahah
Maybe we, as a race, are just looking for certainty and those folks who express certainty supply us with some sort of security.
As I grow older, the more uncertain I become.

I was just reading that there is only a 1% chance that the Democrats will take the house in 2014 and will loose 5 to 10 seats. Ba Hum Bug to them too! This is all based on historical data. Well it won't be Florida's fault. We will pick up another seat in March for the Democrats. Alex Sink is now picking up endorsements from Republican leaning businesses. She is double digits ahead of Jolly. I doubt there will be a Republican wave in 2014. Republicans can't behave themselves long enough anymore to improve their image. They are scary.
The kids have now sold 175 items on Esty ranging from $10 to $20. My grand daughter-in-law has worked hard on this project. I am tired too because I am the clean up crew of one. The sequester was really a bad thing in so many ways and punitive to people. They both made Dean's list. It will be over my dead body that these little kids will sweep floors for their lunch. Republicans are very scary.
Time to ice some doughnuts that I just made in the oven. They are shaped like candy canes.
Happy Christmas.

In It's Even Worse Than it Looks, 2012, Norman Ornstein, the only sane guy at AEI, notes that with 'the new politics of extremism' the mid-term elections further ensure inaction and obstruction in the federal government.
He also says there is no hope of changing our antiquated non-parliamentary system of divided government, we are too used to it. He says 4 year terms for Reps might allow a new President a bigger window to get something done, but would, of course, require an amendment to our creaky 220+ year old Constitution.
