1. Blog text entry boxes come equipped with handy buttons at the top, including formatting tools, picture and video inserters, smilies, spell check, and more. To find out what a particular button does, hold the mouse over it until description text appears.

2. If you don't see the buttons, refresh/reload the pages. If you still don't see the buttons, contact Genghis. If you enter content while the buttons aren't showing, your linebreaks will disappear when you save.

3. The edit buttons don't play well with Safari. We recommend Firefox, which is cooler than Safari in any case. Safari and IE are for losers.

4. Important: Please do not paste anything into this space from Microsoft Word. It fubar's the formatting. And it's evil.

5. PC users: To paste from an editor, you may use Notepad or Wordpad

6. Mac users: We recommend that you download TextWranger. When you run it the first time, you may want to change the following preferences under Editing Defaults:

• Uncheck Smart quotes
• Check Check spelling as you type
• Check Soft wrap text
• Wrap to: Window width

7. To add links, select the text that you want to make into a link. Then click the insert link button , and enter a url into the Link URL field.

8. To upload pictures, select a file in the File Attachments section. After you upload the file, click the insert image button , and paste the url of the attached file into Image URL field.

9. To display a youtube video, click the insert embedded media button, and paste the URL of the youtube page into the File/URL field.

10. To display a video from a different source, you need to copy the embed code, often displayed somewhere on the page. Paste the embed code into a text editor so that you can see it clearly. Then find the <embed> tag, which should look something like this:

Copy the url from src="...", and paste it into the File/URL field in the embed media popup. To size the video correctly, also copy the width and height into the Dimensions field.
