the longer version with the calmer Pelosi prequel, with her he even says "we're doing this in a very friendly manner"

In a way Trump successfully forced this, because now the ones from majority Trump fan districts have a need to get on the record with a vote.

This is an important big picture thing, too. It gets to a lot of discussions here in the past about Hillary not being treated like a man.
For both better and for worse, depending on the situation, female leaders do this thing.Even if the leadership is only wife of a family. Hit me right away watching the longer video version. I immediately saw how Schumer just went straight out mano a mano with him, hitting him where he knew it would be taken as an insult, playing with emotions. After Pelosi had tried the de-escalation, the respectful manipulation, the appeal to the rational calm, i.e., recognize him as alpha, and then manipulate him. (Comedians have long played this correctly by referring sarcastically to "the little woman" actually running things.)
It's ironic that women have somehow gotten the label of "too emotional"--have never gotten where that comes from--which makes no sense because what they have actually been trained to do by their upbringing is the opposite: to get men to calm down, back off, and think.
A reminder about this article, she may have seen it: HOW DONALD TRUMP APPEALS TO MEN SECRETLY INSECURE ABOUT THEIR MANHOOD

food for thought along same lines:

Would like to add that tempering this whole point is that it's already been noted in the media in the past that Trump and Schumer like to play NYC "in yo face" type arguing when they are together. Which is in sort of a category of its own. (Comes to mind Scarramucci actually got 15 min. of fame by doing it facetiously.)

fwiw I just caught this only because art critic Jerry Saltz retweeted it:

Hopefully, this will start to change; from the 2018 exit pollls
These are people who actually are interested enough in politics to vote, so they are not falling for every Fox meant-to-go viral smear as the general public.
CNN got similar in a post election poll of "Democrats": CNN poll: Less than half of Democrats want Pelosi as the party's leader
Even though I was trying to make a distinction between her and Hillary on your Hillary thread, she's pretty much got a similar unfavorable problem. She's not running for prez though, so it's not as important. And people just don't know as much about her history as they do about Hillary, so her image would be easier to change over the next months.

In all fairness to Trump I support that he allows his pet to sit on the furniture. That's a level of empathy and kindness one wouldn't expect from Trump. Also that he took the time to train his pet to sit quietly and not bother anyone by jumping up and making any noise.

I ran across a bunch of people the other day tweeting about how they don't trust Trump because he's not a dog person and never had a dog. You shoulda been there challenging them.
by artappraiser on Thu, 12/13/2018 - 2:19am
While Trump would enjoy the subservience of a dog and the loyalty no matter how badly a dog is treated a dog has certain emotional needs Trump could never supply. Keeping Pence as a pet is something Trump can handle as you get all the subservience without any of the needs. Pence is a good boy, yes he is, a very good boy.

I don't know it it was a refusal to look. The rictus of his smile telegraphed that he was on the edge of his control.
Compare the others' posture to Pelosi's. She turned the couch into a stool.
If one can help it, never take a meeting with an adversary when they get to sit in a chair while you are sinking into a sofa.

sofa thing is so true. impossible to do body language from one unless you're trying to say one of two things: go away, I want to zone out or take a nap, or: come here and let's canoodle

Nancy Pelosi looked more Presidential than Schumer and Trump.
Edit to add:
Pelosi called the President a liar, and Trump was not bright enough to pick up on her comment about his lack of facts.

On the whole assertiveness/aggressiveness thing, this strikes me as not even funny because it just rings true (I was reminded by watching part of an appearance she made on Fox the other day)
It's like the word "harridan" was invented to describe her.
