It's signed by Rashida Tlaib, Cori Bush, Greg Casar, Jamaal Bowman and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Note that while Vindman tweets against the letter, Glenn Greenwald tweets in support of it.

Lula's relative support for Russian atrocities in Ukraine caught a lot of us surprise.
The "Bolsonaro vs Democracy" equation seemed to shape shift suddenly.

good point.
also to keep in mind, tho I don't know how related it is to Russia/Ukraine: it's the urban elite liberals who helped push Lula over the top; lots of working class preferred Bolsanaro.
Then there's all of Africa and surely I haven't figured that out yet and maybe never will. One thing I can see clearly: as far as the 'war of civlizations' that Putin wants, in Africa, it's "be there or be square".

Yes, lefties support revolution chic, while Africa I'd guess is as much financial support plus some revolution/socialism nostalgia. The US is "The Man" overall.
But still i thought Luka would be a bit more humanitarian in keeping with favelas having an anti-colinialist bent, but i suppose memories are short & easily swayed.
Have some Che Guevara in your coffee?

Ford Fischer reported on a rally in support of Assange outside the DOJ, which was sidelined by an unaffiliated man stripping off his clothes and trying to light himself on fire:
If you look at the replies on his tweet there, you will see several people suggest that that man must be a government plant.
If you look at his whole thread reporting the rally speakers, you will see a lot the usual suspects spoke in support, including Max Blumenthal, Elizabeth Murray, Garland Nixon, John Kiriakou, Gary Condon, Editor-in-Chief of Consortium News Joe Lauria, and others.

At an event in support of WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovitch being detained by Russia, Assange supporters confront Masha Gessen. David Remnick, Anna Nemzer, Beth Knobel & Susan Glasser, including accusing Gessen of being a a CIA asset. And Vega later tweets the video and a statement that Gershkovitz is a spy and then copies that thread to an extensive list of their compadres on Twitter:

Here's an "Exonerate LaRouche" supporter congratulating them and inviting everyone to come see Sare & Vega along with Scott Ritter, Tara Reade, National Chair of the People's Party and others on April 22:

My comment so far is:
Are MAGA and Trump supporters really the only "clown car" in this country?
And didn't this other clown car precede them?
And might not the most passionate Trump/MAGA support have come mainly in reaction to them? (That's without even getting into Obama/Trump voters...)

Interesting thread by an ex-editor at The Atlantic and ex-reporter for the AFP; could be related, stranger things have happened:
