Being the Problem and the Solution

One of Herbert Blau quotes of which I am fond:

If you're not part of the problem, you not part of the solution

For me, at least, this means in essence one has to work from within the corrupt system in order to make a significant change.

Bernie Sanders' campaign pushes the meme "This is a revolution." Yet he playing the game by going after the Democratic nomination and not trying to run as third party alternative. We are for all intents and purposes a two party system. One can be a Senator and such while stating you're an independent. But even then you still have to caucus with either the Republicans or the Democrats in order to be actively involved.

When it comes to the presidential race it will be an R vs D for the foreseeable future. Ross Perot was an anomaly and he still didn't come close to winning.

Bernie Sanders knows if he wants to make real changes (i.e. revolutionary changes), then he has to be part of the political system that is the problem.

Sam Cook A Change Is Gonna Come

It has been a long, a long time a coming but I know, Change will come. Yes it will.

    Beautifully bitter-sweet.

t has been a long, a long time since we've had some real change. I think the time is finally here. But as the images in the video remind us, it will take some courage, patience with persistence, and some blood, sweat and tears.

I think it is too. Even in Europe they are tired of the far right ideology.

I agree that given the embedded two-party system, we need to work within its confines. I voted for Ross Perot because I was tired of the 2 parties, which got Bill Clinton elected (which, at the time, was an awful outcome for me - in hindsight, not so much!)

If Bernie were to run as an independent, we would be handing the presidency to the Repubs, no ifs ands or buts about it.

Jason Miller is a big fan of working within the Repub party to bring about change, but I just can't do that. So working to pull the Dems left without going so far as to make them unelectable, is my preference.
