The Bishop and the Butterfly: Murder, Politics, and the End of the Jazz Age

Who is the brightest, most charismatic Progressive in Ohio 8?

One of the frustrating things about our federal system is when one's own state has a fine set of Senators and Congressmen one feels helpless in the face of bull-headed intransigence elected elsewhere.  I watched Minority Leader John Boehner, sourer than the lemons he must have been sucking on Inauguration Day, and thought nothing good will come out of this man's tenure.

Well, nothing has in the first week of the Obama Presidency.  In some ways, I'm a constituent of the leadership of a national party, whether or not I live in the district in which he  is  elected.  But I'm a powerless constituent.  Well, almost, but not quite.  I can vote with my wallet.  So friends in Ohio District Eight... which woman or man can give John  Boehner the  run of his life?  Let the campaign to replace him begin.  I'm itching to talk a few bucks into the campaign kitty  of his opponent.   There is a need for this smarmy, self-righteous, (I  can't think  of a third epithet polite enough for publication) manipulator to answer for his untra-partisanship.  The  sooner you settle on a candidate, the  sooner I can open my checkbook.
