Mitt Romney and the Cold War Redux

Well in an unexpected move to prove his manliness and tough guy persona,  Mitt Romeny has come out in favor of nuclear proliferation.

In his zeal to oppose all things Obama, Mitt Romney accused the President of underming American Security, by signing a treaty with Russia, so both countries would commit to reducing their nuclear arsenals.

Surprisingly, the President signed this treaty in April, but Mitt has chosen the day after our Independence Day to write about it in the Washington Post.   Read his words, he knows what is good for America, a Cold War Redux is good for America!

New-START impedes missile defense, our protection from nuclear-proliferating rogue states such as Iran and North Korea. Its preamble links strategic defense with strategic arsenal. It explicitly forbids the United States from converting intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) silos into missile defense sites. And Russia has expressly reserved the right to walk away from the treaty if it believes that the United States has significantly increased its missile defense capability.

If we don't restart the Cold War, we obviously can't defend ourselves. More nuclear weapons is obviously the answer to this problem.

Some other, less than sober analysis is this one from Michael Shears article, say other things:

But experts from the right and the left agree the treaty extends a verification plan that has allowed the world's two nuclear giants to maintain stability that has existed for the past 20 years.

I have no reason to doubt Mitt, I know he is just trying to help us all understand why he could be such a great candidate and President come 2012, first and foremost, he will restart the Cold War, and we will continue to build bigger and better nuclear weapons, and more, lots more!

Thanks Mitt, I wil remember this come 2012!
