There are two likely modes of response to this article. One is to praise Blinken despite his transparent and embarrassing lie. The second is to attack the author for pointing out a transparent and embarrassing lie.

#3: Glenn quit Intercept cuz Editor-in-Chief wouldn't allow him to write unfounded lies and fat-free speculation about Hunter Biden's laptop. Why should we give a shit about Glenn now? Isn't it hypocritical for Glenn to ask for factual reporting after that?
Glenn then goes in to praise Julian Asante, who published hacked emails from one candidate but not the other (helping get the atrocious Trump elected), peddled lies about Seth Rich's death for which other liars were successfully sued), claimed Hillary had Parkinson's it other major affliction (she's still kicking 5 years later), and enough acts of hacking for the US government to successfully deal with him as a non-journalist (along with Schulte, his co-consoirator in the Vault 7 tapes, who was caught passing info in his cell).
Why is Reality Winner in jail the last 5 years? Glenn blames it all on The Intercept, as usual nothing to do with him, except she contacted him. He's awfully silent these days - if only he bellowed about her case as much as he does Assange and Putin-boy Ed Snowden that Glenn got whisked off to Moscow, maybe she wouldn't have had to serve her whole sentence (unlike the Manaforts and Roger Stones and Mike Flynn's who have people to stick up for them)
As for Biden, Greenwald holds out a high (impossible) standard, while having next to none for Trump & Putin

The premise of the article is that one considers Assange a journalist. Greenwald does and I don't.

Is that all that you took from the article? Regardless Assange, and not that you are required to express them, but didn't reading it make you have any thoughts about what Blinken said?

Well, Glenn saying Obama's worse than Nixon on press freedoms? Really flying his asshole flag. Blinker resisting registering RFE as foreign agents cuz that's how Russia shut down RFE several times before. In any case, Assange is a criminal, not a journalist, whatever decent work he may have done a few times before. If I hacked all your emails and online files and exposed everything to the world just cuz in my diackish megalomania i thought you deserved to be exposed, you'd think I was a shithead if highest orooirtiins. Yet you and Glenn are cheering on a guy who most of the time just hates Water governments so wants to fuck with their data, not accepting any limits to his supposed journalistic exercise of opposing secrets. Including not giving a shit what private matter he puts out on bystanders. And just when did Glenn decide it was his calling to suck Putin's dick more than concern himself with politics and journalism? Greenwald's become such a liar - why do you give him so much consideration? I had a subscription for him 15 years ago, but God his tripe wore old in the meantime.

"Greenwald's become such a liar - why do you give him so much consideration?"
That's where it's at for me. I posted this once before but to repeat. I like Sam Harris. I've read almost all his books as well as watched many of his debates and some of his podcasts.I don't agree with everything he's said, no one is ever 100% right all the time, but I know what he said and wrote. Greenwald attacked him with lies and quotes taken out of context which is just another was of lying. Unless I know all the details of a subject I can't trust a word out of Greenwald's mouth and if I already know all the details why look to Greenwald for information?
"If I hacked all your emails and online files and exposed everything to the world"
That's bad enough but what Assange did was so much worse. He had all these hacked emails and information and instead of exposing everything he selectively picked what secrets to tell based on his personal partisan agenda.

In your comment above you say that the premise of Greenwald's article is that Assange is a journalist. I would somewhat disagree and say instead that the claim of Assange being a journalist is the premise of Greenwald's example of the hypocrisy of Blinken's speech but not what the article was about. What I see as the whole point of the article, and as a point well worth noting, is that Blinken told an obvious transparent lie. You can reject the claim that Assange is a journalist, as many do, but there are so many other examples that could have been used to make the same point, that point being that the speech was a lie and was an example of gross hypocrisy.
Do youhave an opinion on what the article was about? I do not see why any opinion of Greenwald should effect one's view one way or another of what the video of Blinken reveals. By your above stated standard for having trust, can you ever trust anything Blinken says again or do you maybe think he was telling the truth?

Assange is not in jail for telling the truth - he's in jail for acts of criminality. I used to be thin, i ain't no more - thats no lie for different realities at 2 different times. OJ was famous as a running back - then as a wife killer. You can fixate on his 2000 yard season, but many people will find murder a more important moral issue and stop thinking of him as an "athlete" - go figure. "How can you feign anger over others’ attacks on a free press when you imprison Assange as punishment for his vital revelations about U.S. officials?" Those "revelations" stopped being "vital_ a long time ago, turned more and more evil. Glenn groupie fans just never noticed. But the law does. It's like dreaming vs a traffic radar. One's objective.

Idunno, maybe about the time he helped Edward Snowden escape to Russia? Certainly by the time he was willing to blatantly lie about Russiagate.
Certainly acting like a Russian shill does nothing to keep away accusations of being a Russian shill. Of course there could be other reasons for Glenn to push publicizing baseless charges about Hunter Biden's laptop during campaign season (and bolstering Giuliani's "i just happened to get this laptop out of the repair shop" defense), but when you parallel the logic of a ranting ink stained guy who holds campaign stops at a landscaping and funeral parlor parking lot and flies to Ukraine at al to pressure leaders to find dirt on his opponents, you might have just stepped away from journalism.
BTW, Krystal *snorts* on-air while sounding smarmy. Sagar just sounds smarmy and a bit like clenching a peanut in his butt. What is it you like about these 2?
PS2 - "it sounded better in the original Russian" is certainly overused and no longer funny, but the continuing revelations about Derioaska & Kilimnik, the meetings between Kislyak and Flynn/Sessions (and lies about it) mean Glenn's denial of Russian involvement becomes more and more absurd
