5 more charities drop Mar-a-Lago fundraisers

Five more charities announced Friday they were dropping plans for fundraising events at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida [....]

Susan G. Komen, a multimillion-dollar nonprofit that raises money for breast cancer research; the International Red Cross; The Salvation Army; the Autism Association of Palm Beach County; and Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Loxahatchee Groves, Florida, all said they were pulling events from Mar-a-Lago’s upcoming winter fundraising schedule, according to local reports.

They joined the Cleveland Clinic, the American Cancer Society and the American Friends of Magen David Adom, all of which announced Thursday their decision to move their events off-site, bringing the total of charities to pull events from Trump’s estate to eight [....]

A friend just pointed out in an email to me what I think is a major point:

Trump must be thinking: Trumpco brand bleeding like a stuck pig. We may even lose the Russkie types, it's so bad! That's yuge yuge problem.. Trumpco must repair that somehow or have a heart attack.

Tony Schwartz knows Trumpco well. He said in May There is no right and wrong for Trump. There’s winning and losing. And that’s very different from right and wrong. Right now he’s in pure terror that he is going to lose He said Aug. 16 Trump must be isolated. Resistance every day. The end is near but must keep pressure high.The circle is closing at blinding speed. Trump is going to resign and declare victory before Mueller and congress leave him no choice.

Whether or not the result is resignation, it's clear he has to do something to bring back the brand somehow, it's either do that or curl up and die. It could be war or another kind of false flag, but actually with how he's been putting Afghanistan decisions on delay rather than even demagogue that, I have doubts about that. I don't know if he has any sense of mortality coming soon, if he does he still would worry about legacy of the brand. In which case he might try to pump Ivanka? Just a thought.

Total speculation: Ivanka brand still very popular in China. From googling, I see recent news is that liberal Dems in Congress are still on her about conflict of interest on China licenses but not GOP (the latter have worse things to worry about, to be sure)

She and Jared did the on vacation thing to evade Charlottesville and then she did the one tweet as regards Charlottesvile, maybe suggested by or even written by their rebbe. I am cynical enough about them to think that to have her do it was also strategic. She separates herself from Jared that way, and he is the one that is going to be involved in the Mueller investigation.

Why get into all of this? Watch for what Trump does as regards China? Maybe no coincidence that Bannon is arguing to a liberal columnist about trade with China being a # 1 long term issue. Trump may even know this part of history: how China helped Nixon repair his brand.

More Charities Cancel Fund-Raisers at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club

[....] Over the weekend, the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach and the Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society became the latest nonprofit groups to cancel galas at Mar-a-Lago. [....]

Large nonprofits began peeling away from Mar-a-Lago on Thursday. The Washington Post reported that the American Cancer Society, the Cleveland Clinic and the American Friends of Magen David Adom all announced they would not be holding fund-raisers at the oceanside resort.

On Friday, the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and Susan G. Komen also canceled events at Mar-a-Lago [....]

Laurel Baker, executive director of the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce, told The Palm Beach Post that supporting Mr. Trump “directly or indirectly” did not speak well of any organization.

“If you have a conscience, you’re really condoning bad behavior by continuing to be there,” Ms. Baker said of Mar-a-Lago.

Between November and April, 21 charities held events at Mar-a-Lago, The Associated Press reported, making the fund-raisers a lucrative business during the social season.

Events: Heavy gunfire is occuring around the area of the U.S. Embassy and residential compounds adjacent to the Trutier area of Tabarre. All Embassy personnel have been instructed to remain indoors and shelter-in-place until further notice. All others should avoid the area.

Actions to take:

Avoid the area;

Avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people;

Do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; and

If you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area.
