Oh boy, from the CNN live feed, lessee if he can stick to the teleprompter speech he's getting or is gonna cause trouble with improv, looking like he already requested a change; 13 min. ago:

Ok, I didn't see or read Trump's statement yet and might not because it seems it does not matter, from the most recent update on CNN Live, it seems whatever is going on at the White House right now is way beyond the most absurdist imaginings in Paddy Chayesky's script for Network:

Trump can read from a script. He will then revert to form.
The Trumpsters continue to prove that they are deplorables.

Ashley Parker and Philip Rucker, "'I Could Really Tone It Up': Trump shows little interest in uniting the nation during crises, WaPo earlier this evening, https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/i-could-really-tone-it-up-trump-...
So just to be clear if this account is accurate, he actually noted that the bombing suspect was a "person that preferred me over others", as though associating himself with the suspect is a good thing.

Trump is the victim...! The evil press! Reporters!
Best video of - noted that the suspect “was a person that preferred me over others.” - at this link.

If you liked that, NCD, you'll love this one, like Trump, many Trump fans have a never ending supply of rationalizations for their fantasy world:

Arty, has Trump pardoned the guy yet? Patriot, my kinda guy, likes me.....
He would be a big hit at the Incitement Rallies, and Trump could fly in the van in the Presidential jet for The Base to ogle over.

I dunno...cause he's no Joe the Plumber, none of that "charisma". At the end where he said, yah, that reminded me of Pa Kettle. Just the "facts" to the lady reporter, be polite, not very angry but gee a nap would be nice right now.
I wonder if they round some of them up at the "Bowery" of each town, free bottle of Ripple after the show if you show up sober to see Trump?

It's so stupid to think Hillary and Obama were in a conspiracy to send pipe bombs to themselves. What about all the other bombs. They couldn't do it alone. There were at least 20 people involved in the conspiracy. They all sent bombs to themselves. Zuckerburg personally created Sayoc's facebook page and Jack Dorsey ran the twitter account. This has been planned for years by Hillary, Obama, and the liberal tech ceo's. They planned it the same day they met to cut the checks to pay the women wearing pussy hats when they protested Trump's inauguration.

Jack Dorsey in on this big time, not just with this bomb thing, Trump cannot be Trump if censored by Twitter, he cannot be a river to his (partly faux) peepul....

Viewing the clip I now think Trump noting the suspect was a supporter seemed to have been offered as more of a casual btw.in passing remark and not something he was bragging about-- or something he grasped might have been significant in terms of the consequences of his words. It is the latter that I have such a problem with.
This is a different interpretation or reaction from the impression I had from reading the newspaper account.

I'm seeing many quoting Rick Wilson's piece for The Daily Beast (of course I'm seeing that cause I am following him and he's hitting "like" for every citation, so there's that! ) But it's also because I think he has such a good pulse on the phenomenon, the right words just come. He is after all a fanatic on watching Trump fans and Trumpism, wrote "Everything that Trump Touches Dies" Worth a read

David Frum directly blames him too:
A President Who Condones Political Violence
Trump’s statements over the past 48 hours reveal a president willing to breach a core rule of democracy.
