The Bishop and the Butterfly: Murder, Politics, and the End of the Jazz Age

Basic Math and the Summation of the Equation.

Heard recently the Bush tax cuts cost this country between 3 and 4 TRILLION DOLLARS over the past 10 years. There is the  reason for almost a third of our 14 trillion dollar debt. A good part of the reason we have run up this debt is basic math. Because of the vast amout of wealth that is being stashed off-shore by the multi-nationals along with the corporate welfare system compounded by the afore-mentioned tax cuts on capital gains. (Bush tax cuts); we just plain and simply do not bring in enough money to continue to spend like this.

Of course this situation makes the Right Wing's mouth water as they see it as a excellent chance to destroy the social safety net, which they have been running for for the past 30 years. Not hard to see this is their plan especially since neither of these programs when passed into law recieved one Republican vote.

Instead of using the debt as reason to tear down the entitlements, what should be done is to do away with the Bush cuts and stop the corporate welfare system. Put the tax system back the way it was when Bill Clinton was President. After all the man was able to balance the budget with the tax system as it was then. Then came Bush who screwed things up royally. The policies this man put in place with his give-aways to the rich and his bogus wars are the real reason this country is in debt. But of course we are being told it is because the entitlements are too costly. Well if they'd cut defense instead of using it to rip us off and re-instate the 1990's tax code the entitlements would be able to be funded easily. Also if the government would pay back the 1 trillion they "borrowed from the so called social security "lock box"" the fund would really be in rock steady shape.

To bad that even as I type Obama, the best Republican-Democratic president we ever had, is no doubt helping Mitch McConnel sell us down the river. So grab your oar and be ready to paddle upstream; againt the tide of greed and corruption that leads this "once" truly great country.

Only way I can see to change the "once" to "once again" is to use the web to identify and put on virtual public trial the scum who are doing such a great job of pulling the wool over our eyes. Then we remove the cancer with our surgical vote, along with anyone else who comes along and tries walking in their shoes. This of course is a truly monumental task considering the concensus and solidarity it would require alone. One would have to come up with some sought of mandate to our leaders for a defined 'Government Role" in the leader-ship of our country; which is akin to writing another Bill of Rights or another Constitution. One can only hope - AND PRAY.

So maybe we had all better dip our pens and sharpen our pencils. Remember, stay on point - people hate to admit it; but we ARE IN A CLASS WAR as real as any war America has ever fought and as brutal as our own Civil War 150 years ago. Now as was then the fight is for freedom - freedom from dispair and subjucation. WE CAN WIN !!!. But be prepared to a long hard fight. The alternative is much like the movie MAD MAX.

If this is what you want - DO NOTHING. If this is not what you want DO SOMETHING. Sometimes I hear people say "I don't do politics'. Well to my way of thinking they might as well be saying "I don't do life", for politics are the policies which control our lives and dictate our futures.

Well it is not over till it's over, I guess!

Most of your points are being covered by this Cenk fellow at MSNBC and Ed Shultz of course.

We only hear bits and pieces from these secret 'negotiations'.

Grandma Pelosi appears to be screaming her bloody head off; and good for her!

    We shall see.

    Nothing surprises me anymore.

All benefits in my state are being cut off in two days. We have a Dem Gov and a fascist legislature!

Ed Shultz rules - if he ran for prez he'd get my vote. Like Bernie Sanders to be his running mate.

Just pray we're not being sold out on the entitlements - the rich really do have to pony up. They've had it too good for a while now.

The Dems best move is to call the Right's bluff. If those S.S checks stopped coming the Right would get killed in the next election. Shame how uncompromising they are, but I guess when your a rat you only go for the cheese. I think their agenda is to make the middle class look like a piece of SWISS.
