Though I'd remind that Jesse Jackson 1984 led to Jesse Jackson 1988 led to Obama 2008 - not so "unprecedented", as steady progress. But that's not good enough - people will fight over a word - didn't say mother may I or "blue, not red", " pink, not orange"
