NYT: Kushner, After Senate Meeting, Says ‘I Did Not Collude’

Jared Kushner said his meetings last year with Russians were not part of any attempt by Moscow to disrupt the presidential election.
“I did not collude with Russians, nor do I know of anyone in the campaign who did,” Mr. Kushner said after meeting with congressional investigators.

Jared Kushner, President Trump’s senior adviser and son-in-law, answered questions behind closed doors about his contacts with Russian officials. In written remarks made public prior to his appearance and in comments to reporters afterward, he denied any improper contacts and detailed four meetings he had with Russian officials during the 2016 campaign and transition period.

Presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner is set to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee this morning, and what is striking about his extensive opening statement is the degree to which it seeks to insulate Kushner himself from any culpability or responsibility for the problematic known facts about the Russia affair — particularly the known facts that concern Donald Trump Jr.

Kushner’s statement takes exceptional care to separate him, with scalpel-like precision, from the now-notorious meeting that Trump Jr. arranged with a Russian lawyer — a meeting that Trump Jr. had been informed would furnish the Trump campaign with information about Hillary Clinton supplied by the Russian government. Here is what Kushner’s statement says about the meeting (emphasis added): [.....]

and I would point out that while Kushner is a part of the administration, Donald Jr. is not.

Events: Heavy gunfire is occuring around the area of the U.S. Embassy and residential compounds adjacent to the Trutier area of Tabarre. All Embassy personnel have been instructed to remain indoors and shelter-in-place until further notice. All others should avoid the area.

Actions to take:

Avoid the area;

Avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people;

Do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; and

If you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area.
