BREAKING: White House press secretary Sean Spicer resigned on Friday following the appointment of wealthy financier Anthony Scaramucci as White House communications director, according to a White House official. Scaramucci has previously had a tense relationship with both Spicer and White House chief of staff Reince Priebus. This story will be updated.

dang I knew I shoulda took a screenshot of it, I just clicked on the link and WaPo has edited that still away! It was really striking. He's got the big curls at the corners of his lips and grinning and he leans his whole body as he has his arm in the air and he's the same thin build. Really strikingly looked the part without any special makeup...

President Trump's new White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci went on a Twitter purge Friday, deleting years-old tweets bashing his new boss and supporting positions like gun control.

One of the deleted tweets referred to the Trump campaign as a "spectacle," which was pointed out by a reporter who was swiftly blocked by Scaramucci.

Another deleted tweet praised Trump's eventual challenger, Hillary Clinton. In a now-deleted tweet from 2012, Scaramucci calls the former Democratic secretary of State "incredibly competent." Another deleted tweet from the same year included a statistic on gun ownership in the United States, and a third included a direct statement of support for "strong gun control laws." [.....]

Inside the 24 hours that broke Sean Spicer; Trump’s beleaguered press secretary had been in better spirits recently. Then Scaramucci had an Oval Office meeting.

[....] There were efforts from Priebus and Bannon to slow or block the move. Administration officials and advisers said they had various reasons for their opposition, including fears that Scaramucci lacked the political or communications experience necessary for the high-profile job, and personal tensions between Priebus and Scaramucci.

After he found out about Scaramucci’s appointment, Bannon had a very "aggressive" confrontation with Trump that some in the West Wing viewed as remarkable, people with direct knowledge of the encounter said. Another person familiar with the encounter said Bannon's behavior was "embarrassing."

"There were a lot of people in the White House that didn't want this," one senior White House official said. "It happened because the family wanted it and because Trump wanted it." [.....]

Actions to take:

Avoid the area;

Avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people;

Do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; and

If you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area.
