Molly Ringwald eloquently reflects on the social impact of the John Hughes' films she starred in:
It’s a strange experience, watching a younger, more innocent version of yourself onscreen. It’s stranger still—surreal, even—watching it with your child when she is much closer in age to that version of yourself than you are. My friend was right: my daughter didn’t really seem to register most of the sex stuff, though she did audibly gasp when she thought I had showed my underwear. At one point in the film, the bad-boy character, John Bender, ducks under the table where my character, Claire, is sitting, to hide from a teacher. While there, he takes the opportunity to peek under Claire’s skirt and, though the audience doesn’t see, it is implied that he touches her inappropriately.

Et tu, Apu? Nevertheless, Ringwald notes she was in her 30's before discovering she liked non-loudmouthed men better, and some nice men were in their 30's still wondering why women preferred assholes. All the pieces are changing, not just 1 part as observer. Wonder what Ally Sheedy thought of it all.

Yeah, her comment on "verbally abusive men" was interesting. Do you remember the controversy surrounding Neil Strauss's The Game about pick-up artist subculture?
PS Ally Sheedy has her own #MeToo story, but she has only hinted at it in public.

So just pretending like the site wasn't offline all day, as if we wouldn't notice? We are junkies, ya know!
More seriously, really appreciate all the work you do to keep this space going for our little group of junkies. Without addictions, there is no life as far as I'm concerned.

:) Someone has to email me when the site goes down! My last name @yahoo.com.
Sorry for the downtime. I only noticed an hour ago. This was a tricky one. I had to rebuild the drupal registry.

I was wondering what happened to my usual PP alarm. ;)

Maybe time to switch to WhatsApp - Russkies haven't blocked that one yet, though it's coming, I'm sure...

I've heard reports that Trump is targeting liberal sites in preparation for the Mueller firing and took the site down while you've spent that last 12 hours in custody. I don't know if you were water boarded or what but I heard you gave us all up.

I heard that too, but was afraid to bring it up ... here, in front of everybody ... 'cause ... you know.
(and just look what they already did to PP's phone!!)

Well sure, I understand totally. Not only is it hard to flee without shoes but there's so many places you can't enter to hide because, you know, 'No shoes, No shirt, No service." I, on the other hand, am relatively sure they can't track every kat on every coastal region on both the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean.

No, but more than 1 way to skin a kat, from what I've heard...

That's a damn lie! (he'd already used tha Day in the Life app or whatever, so they already had all our info).
But ask him about the handcuffs...

Fake news. The truth is that Michael Cohen paid me $17.46 and a MAGA hat to take the site down for a few hours until this whole Russia thing blows over. (Don't tell Mueller!)

I was a bit surprised by how quiet Sheedy was in her joint press conference with Ringwald - not sure how she normally is, but seemed to play a quite beta role to Ringwald's more strident comments, but since she played the outsider weirdo in the film, thought she'd have some other insight. Anyway, I don't disvalue their views, but there are a number of other narratives that make the situation much more complex than the director's juvenile beginnings et al.
