During a truly bonkers House hearing on Thursday, the pro-Trump YouTube repeated multiple, provably false claims and shouted at Democratic lawmakers.

This is one reason a majority of blacks of both genders and multiple income levels do not vote for Republicans. White Republicans had a field day presenting these two embarrassments as their ideal of black people.

Rep. Louie Gohmert couldn’t even get their names right. Tucker Carlson loves the pair.

Diamond and Silk accepted money to do an ad for a white supremacist running for Paul Ryan’s abandoned seat.

I saw that, too. But in the end, I see few taking them seriously, mostly see through their shtick as comedy routine looking out for #1 playing troll, crying controversy and riling for eventual profit. And that the Congressional GOP made themselves look like fools for trying to take advantage of their claim that Facebook et. al. is censoring pro-Trump voices, when in reality all they did is give them more face time and brand recognition. And I think most political people see that. Because the gals do the classic troll thing, that's their shtick. Taking money from anybody would also be their shtick. Not a hell of a lot of ideology there if you've tried to check them out, all just trolling Trump, they don't really give many reasons for supporting him.

Trump supporters take them seriously.

I doubt it. They might use them as cover for their racism or to pretend their conservative ideology cares about minorities or the poor. But I don't think they really take them seriously.
by ocean-kat on Sat, 04/28/2018 - 1:48pm
Of course they don't, they're black women.
by barefooted on Sat, 04/28/2018 - 1:51pm
I don't think that's what it's about in this case. They use them because they're black. They don't take them seriously because Diamond and Silk are fools that don't deserve to be taken seriously.
by ocean-kat on Sat, 04/28/2018 - 3:37pm
Yes, you're probably right. Unfortunately, the fact that they're such obvious fools just intensifies the already stereotypical view that most Republicans seem to have of black women and gives them the chance to use them no matter how they're perceived ... as outspoken women who are bravely defending their love for Trump or as simply crazy, over-the-top ladies who exemplify black folks but just happen to really like Trump.
by barefooted on Sat, 04/28/2018 - 4:03pm
You are correct, they are willing to use the two women.
