Poor Hillary, she says what's on most people's minds or pops the mental balloons of the fabulists on the left - this won't buy her too many friends, but at least she's not running for anything (aside from Cassandra).
[ETA - except the NYTimes says Europe's already lowering immigration - so why's The Guardian complaining about her heartlessness - just more Hillary hostilité?]

thank you for pointing to the NYT article, I saw it but didn't read it. I read it now and see this little tidbit:
from Clinton Wants Europe to Get Tough on Migration. It Already Has.
by Jason Horowitz & Patrick Kingsley, Nov. 23
I have no doubt Hillary knows all of this. She's saying what she's saying now with a specific political effect in mind, whatever that is. Therefore, I wouldn't say "poor Hillary".

this related is at the top of my Twitter feed just now when I went there.
as the NYTimes' article states:
Maybe Hillary is trying to set a goal for the new Democratic House where they, along with her, refuse to accept the labelling as "leftist open border elites"? As the Times' article also notes, there are the elections for European Parliament in spring....

Yes, she's not stupid nor poor, and I'm sure she's taking the sacrifice to mark out new territory so existing candidates and politicians don't have to. Hillary the trial balloon/decoy.
And the counterargument I hear is "to get where I am, I've had to kiss a lot of ass - right on the lips!"

It should be said that this isn't really new territory. It has long been the position of the majority of democrats, even many of the liberal democrats. Very few are advocates of open borders or the new far left view that ICE should be abolished. Given where I live near the border I work closely and often with No More Deaths and the Samaritans. Even among these hard core advocates for human rights on the border it's only the fringe among them that want open borders.
