Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III wrote a letter in late March complaining to Attorney General William P. Barr that a four-page memo to Congress describing the principal conclusions of the investigation into President Trump “did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance” of Mueller’s work, according to a copy of the letter reviewed Tuesday by The Washington Post.
The letter and a subsequent phone call between the two men reveal the degree to which the longtime colleagues and friends disagreed as they handled the legally and politically fraught task of investigating the president. Democrats in Congress are likely to scrutinize Mueller’s complaints to Barr as they contemplate the prospect of opening impeachment proceedings and mull how hard to press for Mueller himself to testify publicly [....]
The letter made a key request: that Barr release the 448-page report’s introductions and executive summaries, and it made initial suggested redactions for doing so, according to Justice Department officials [....]

Story blurb: Bob Mueller found out the hard way that the attorney general isn’t the average Trump stooge. Time is running dangerously short, and Democrats still don't get it.

Yeah, Democrats so stupid - can't tell Republicans breaking the law. Really, we'd like to try playing by the rules, but the mothercuking Conman-in-Chief and the motherfucking both-sides-do-it press - well, it's our fault, right Rick?
Lies - watcha gonna do about it?
PS - Mueller and Comey aren't Democrats - another Trump lie, and Barr seems to have tricked Mueller too.

The point made about Barr being more skillful than the other stooges is still germane.

I find him obvious and tactless, more than the other chimps, and in other normal times he'd be gone or in jail.
A reminder that the boy that went before, Whitaker, was also graceless and bizarre. Just because the GOP would back a ham sandwich doesn't mean the sandwich is especially talented.

The proof of the matter is if he can continue to play rope-a-dope indefinitely. I realize that it isn't pretty.
by moat on Wed, 05/01/2019 - 6:47pm
Seems to be hanging himself with that rope-a-dope - more dope than rope. He didn't even know of the Trump Tower meeting or Manafort passing poll info to Russians or Trump getting broefed on the Russian hack in Aug 2016?

Hopefully you right.
Klobuchar does a good job of slicing and dicing him on obstruction. Patterns versus being able to explain away particular events. Barr's response is indistinguishable from a defense lawyer's response to the evidence. But charging him with obstruction is another hundred days on top of the others needed to address this mess.
Is there a way to turbo-charge the reaction?
by moat on Wed, 05/01/2019 - 8:24pm
I just read Katyal's just published NYTimes op-ed and he sort of addresses your question about turbo charging, moat. He designed the damn thing and basically is saying it's going a bit slow but it's working, turbo charging not possible. (And yes of course he has a vested interest in defending his product:). I will just note that the last innings of a baseball game can go on for a very long time!
Why Barr Can’t Whitewash the Mueller Report
We have a system in place for our government to uncover evidence against a sitting president. And it’s working.
By Neal K. Katyal Mr. Katyal drafted the special counsel regulations under which Robert Mueller was appointed.

I am grateful that the process to oppose the thugs is underway.
It would be nice to see the home team put more points on the board.
I worry about how long the stalling of the game will go on.

What's Avenatti charged with? falsely representing his finances to get a loan?
how come 4 members of the Trump family/cartel are filing a restraint suit to keep Deutsche Bank from releasing their finances? and as Rick notes, how'd they give these tax statements to DB when still "under audit"? the mind boggles. let the criminal investigation continue.
