^ Major carnage, allover the country, I've only skimmed the top and I tried not to duplicate anything from the weekend that I already posted yesterday on the old thread, like two shootings at colleges' homecomings, including the mass shooting in Georgia. And I haven't even looked at what's been going on in Chicago since I posted a total yesterday.

^ Ding, ding, ding! Yet surely someone will respond: but but but he's leaving out the late 80's and the early 1990's. And how it's all Reagan's fault. As if this current time is nothing to complain about EVEN THOUGH EVERYONE REMEMBERS HOW ONLY RECENTLY MOST BIG CITIES WERE WONDERFULLY SAFE PLACES to live and to visit! How big city police and prosecutors had figured out how to reduce crime levels to miraculous levels we never expected to see in our lifetimes. A huge nationwide continuing tragedy, and it's only slight hyperbole to say this was caused by one unusual death by one incompetent cop being recorded on cell phone video at the start of a pandemic that people sitting at home wanted to be distracted from with "let's get the bullies!"

Portland is trying to compete, they don't have the same population but they are nonetheless making a strong showing:

I just realized the cosmetics I purchased yesterday at a big CVS in Yonkers, NY have stickers that are impossible to remove. The stickers are printed with this message:
Intended for sale at CVS/pharmacy. If found elsewhere call 866-439-8724
and then the stickers are ink stamped with a 5-digit number that probably indicates location of store.

You're lucky they didn't explode and leave indelible plus invisible ink all over your hands.
CVS and Frances Farmer will have their revenge on Seattle.

And they'll hire investigators for which we will pay for in higher prices.Still, I gotta admit that those investigators will no doubt be paid less than the cops paid for with our taxes, so there's that.

p.s. Am reminded now that I have recent experience with DISCOVER card fraud investigators. They seem quite savvy, I was impressed. $1,500+ worth of sneakers were charged on my number and they called right away to ask if the purchase was mine, which it wasn't of course. I said "but your card is still in my wallet and has not left it for months and I have not used it for store purchases." And he said it "happens all the time," that "they get it off the internet."
Edit to add: he also said they actually print duplicate cards using numbers they get off the internet; so they are not making online purchases but in person! To the point where I was allowed to continue using the number for purchases online but could not use the card in person until the replacement came in the mail!!

Why couldn't this have been handled with social workers? Is Letitia James aware of the shift in policing? Will she make a good governor using las millennia's tactics? And BTW, waiting for the first LGBTQ+ forced touching case, preferably by POC.

heard later on the radio something I glossed over in the article -- it's criminal BUT IT'S A MISDEMEANOR. The type of thing any self-respecting criminal in Chicago just frigging ignores, as I have posted many times. So, yeah, it's social worker stuff. The judge sentences you to classes or something...that teach you not to grab a colleague's breast when she's agreeably flirting?

The two Neo-Nazis who planned an attack at Richmond rally get 9 yrs. prison each
Begs the question: why do we need the FBI had to do nasty things like surveillance, why couldn't they use social workers to work it all out?

Makes sense to me that you solve any incarceration/recidivism problems later; they are separate, because the urgent thing is that people are losing their lives.
The only rational alternative is to confiscate every gun in the area, door to door. And that's not going to happen.
It has nothing to do with outlawing guns - liberals are being absurd to bring this up - because guns are already outlawed in Chicago. You can even outlaw guns nationally to tamp down the interstate transport of them BUT THE GUNS THAT ARE ALREADY OUT THERE WILL STILL BE THERE. WITHOUT CONFISCATION, outlawing them is not going to help much, it may even improve their allure as symbols of anti-law power and therefore won't curb gun-associated crime at all. Locking up those who have used them and are clearly willing to keep using them is the only sensible step until the number of guns available are reduced. With strong sentences, so that those types realize the serious nature of choosing to use guns.
This is why BLM 2020 protests were such a big fail for our country: in encouraging many more gun purchases for self-protection. They did so not only because there was rioting and looting, but because they were questioning the existence of policing, so: time to buy a gun, just in case.

It's Halloween, let's have some mass shooting parties!
not #Ghetto, here's a picture of that party house so I for one would toss all those recommendations about nice green streets doing anything about gun violence, you either carry or you don't, have gun, will travel to the suburbs for parties (not to mention places like college campuses, another favored place for gun violence lately) -
DITTO!
DITTO!
Not sure on this one, was it a Halloween special? Or more of a year-round "Florida man" thing?
