NPR just reported that Obama has reversed his position and is willing to start from scratch with Republicans on health care. I left a message for Nancy Ann DeParle with an intern in the White House Office of Health Reform. I asked her to take down my message verbatim. I will paraphrase it here to "Mr. President, oh no you di'nt! Reverse your reversal or I will actively work against your re-election in 2012. The Republicans will decimate reform."
I can't believe this. Seriously.
Update: Despite it's earlier report at 5 pm EST, NPR just reported at 6 pm EST that Obama is NOT willing to scrap the House and Senate bills. Either the White House is giving off mixed signals or NPR's news department is confused. If anyone has additional reports, please quote them below with links.
Where does Obama stand on starting from scratch?
The NPR report that prompted this post was so different from any report I've heard or read since that I am canceling this post on account of an Emily Litella: Never mind. I have to conclude that no, he really di'nt.
