RIPPER'S DC TRIP: First Thoughts

First, thanks to all who contributed to send Gumbun and me to the Healthcare Now! single payer rally last week. Special thanks to Gumbun for standing up so tall for this issue and to Jason for going above and beyond the call of duty while we were there.

I'll write more in the next day or so about this rally. Today I'm busy uploading pics and a couple short vids I took there. If I weren't so exhausted by the trip or such a fumble-fingers with my video editing software, it would have been done by now.

Most people here already know the rally was poorly attended. I'll add my disappointment to the mix. The lobbying may have been beneficial to overall health care reform, but it won't turn the tide in favor of HR 676. For single payer to pass, it will take more pressure than a few citizen lobbyists can deliver. Sorry to tell you, folks, but without a miracle, single payer won't pass this year.

That's probably the most relevant -- if disappointing -- thing I could say right now on the topic. Like I said, more tomorrow, including a few pics and a little serious analysis backed with the reasons for my conclusions.

Thanks again to all who cared enough to send emissaries to the powers that be.
