The Federal Reserve called for growth of 3.4 percent to 3.9 percent this year, up from 3 percent to 3.6 percent, even though unemployment will remain painfully high.

Within the context of this jobless recovery, the working class and poor can be forgiven to see this news as an announcement that the ship has sailed without us.
Within the context of the budget deliberations - where all the talk is about what "they" can afford to cut from our social contract - it is as if Obama, the Dems, the Repubs, and their wealthy owners are all on board, arguing over what to jettison overboard as "excess baggage" as they sail nicely into the sunset. ("Anyone here need assistance paying their home heating oil? No? Ok, then, over the side she goes!" etc.)
There are still a few openings for galley slaves if you're interested. Just don't ever even think you'll be allowed above decks if you sign on for the ride. It's best you know your place.
