Friday before Thanksgiving at the Haikulodeon

Here's this week's heap of haikus:

    Though snow has fallen,
    remember, it has fallen
    but it can't get up.

    --------------------------------------

    On his head, "Gramps" wore
    a blue Yankees baseball cap,
    which made him feel young.

    -----------------------------------------

    double haiku: This mellow fellow
won't say 'hello', whilst he plays
    upon the cello.

    He bows, but won't pluck.
    Pizzicato is not his
    motto ... (Just our luck.)

    -------------------------------------------

double haiku: As the morning dew
    disperses, flowers bloom, a
    gardener curses.

    Why's the gardener
    apoplectic? 'Cuz he needs
    some antiseptic.

    ----------------------------------------------

    A lazy river
that winds through a lush valley,
    still will reach the sea.

    Respond-ku from my friend, David:

    What he's saying is
    "Take it easy, greasy, you've
    a long way to slide"

    My respond-ku2:

    Stop talkin' Jive, Clive.
    Rivers that wide cannot slide,
    They flow, don't 'cha know?

    -------------------------------------------------

    double haiku:

    In the barber's chairs,
boys squirm and fidget ... meanwhile
    dad's reading Playboy.

    Sweeping up the hair,
    old men argue politics ...
    kids want lollipops.

    ----------------------------------------

     Brookstone, L. L. Bean,
    Mrs Field's Cookies, Macys ...
    Mall s assimilate.

    -----------------------------------------

    On a dock in Maine,
he watched as the lobsters were
    removed from their traps.

    -------------------------------------------

     Deer in the headlights!
brakes slammed, tires squeal! Seat belt grabs!
    adrenaline rush!

    ----------------------------------------------

    Ever wonder why
the stars shine in the sky? Two
    words: Surplus Twinkles.

    ---------------------------------------------

    tanka haiku:

    I need your concern,
your help, your solace, your strength,
    your love. I need you.

No, I'm NOT needy! Are cars
    without gasoline, gassy?

    ---------------------------------------------

    Hampered by the rain,
we still managed to play a
    full set of tennis.

    --------------------------------------------

    tanka haiku:

    Do birds in the trees
    sing happier melodies
    than ones in a cage?

    Does freedom of movement trump
the freedom from fear? Don't know.

    -----------------------------------------------

    Finding peace-makers
    is never as easy as
    finding warriors.

    -------------------------------------------

    Thoughts, planted wisely,
    blossom in reluctant minds,
    when the time is right.

    --------------------------------------------

    What if we're all  cogs
    in a huge, complex machine,
    just trying to mesh?

    ---------------------------------------------

    double haiku: Morning eased gently
    into my consciousness, like
    melting caramels ...

    gooey imagery?
    Perhaps, but still better than
    a kick in t
    he shins.

    ------------------------------------------------

    The fabric of Life;
    From order to chaos, we
    slowly unravel.

    ---------------------------------------

    tanka haiku:

    Looking back, I think
my life's been a series of
    int'resting events.

    They were to me anyway,
And in the end, that's what counts.

    -----------------------------------------------

    Barbie's skate party,
    ended in chaos, when Ken
    missed a toe-loop.

    -----------------------------------------------

    His pulse would quicken
each time she entered the room ...
    'cuz, she brought the beer.

    ------------------------------------------------

    tanka haiku:

    Are there a lot or
are there not many? Is AS
    rare or prevalent?

Help us to clear things up by

    asking ... "How Many Spondys?"

    do birds in the trees

    Sing happier melodies...

I was thinking along these lines.

Some of the older people here keep birds.

There are the little dogs of course.

    But the birds?

I was watching some of our dumber Mallards today.

They cannot figure out why they are swimming and all of a sudden find themselves walking on the ice. hahahaha

We had dumb Mallards down in the cities. There are rescue teams who go in the lakes and save the ducks just as they become frozen in the ice.

Obviously they are stupid or they would flee for southern climbs earlier....hahahahahah

I kind of feel that I am in a cage sometimes although I am certainly free to go outside any time I wish. People seem to create their own cages and then go on to feel caged in.

No matter what the environs, we create our own environs mentally.

    That's all I got.

'All you've got' is a good deal, my friend..

Can't decide which of these I  like better, although I'm leaning towards the third one.

    What do you think?:

    Mental environs

are of our own making, but

    'Nuts' has it's own room.

    OR:

    Mental environs

are my own making. But my

    wife decorated.

    OR:

    Mental environs

are of our own making. We're

    lost in our own maze.

    One flowerchild = one vote.

My vote goes for #1. Doesn't everyone have a 'nuts' room?

For some, it's not just a room, it's a luxury suite.  laugh

Thanks for the vote.  I think you're ahead in the voting.
