    Year-End Guest-haiku-ers at the Haikulodeon

Instead of my usual weekly heap of haikus, I thought I'd let this week be mostly a look back at the past year's haikus written by other dagbloggers in their comments to my postings.  At the very end, I'll include a few of my own from the past year.

    ------------------------------------------------

    Browsing the haikus

    a sudden glint of laughter

    comes as a surprise.

    On the Sandy Hook Massacre:

    Guns, guns, and more guns

Babes in the garden are gone

    Eden's been attacked!

    I can't stop cryin'

    Five year-olds are just dyin'

    Before our own eyes.

    There is no bizness

    Like show bizness on cable

    Now cliches abound

    Children have been wronged

    Families are in mourning

    Is there a morrow?

    The snows are comin'

    They had landed already

    A few weeks ago

    They are comin soon

    The snows are comin again

    This time forever

    No more green will be

No more hopes and no more dreams

    Winter comes for good!

    20 below comes

    And the sun will disappear

    But I will be here

    62 seasons

I have seen it all I thought

    Memory fails me

    Shy maple blushed red
    Until the cold gale blustered
    And modesty lost.

Wonderful haikus all.  Thank you all for sharing them with me.

I couldn't chose my own top ten from last year, so I just picked a few that I liked ...

    ----------------------------------

    His hopes had been dashed,
his dreams all surrendered ... The
    tide pulls at his feet.

    -------------------------------

    He rubs his fingers
over a long healed scar and
    reflects on close calls.

    ----------------------------------

     Whistle happily
in the midst of turmoil and
    confuse everyone.

    -------------------------------------

    The fabric of Life;
    From order to chaos, we
    slowly unravel.

    ----------------------------------------------------

    In the swirls of clouds,
    where we imagine heaven,
    floats both love and hope.

    ---------------------------------------------------

    Warmed over coffee
fills my mug like an old friend
    that slept on the couch.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

    Walking through the woods,
    I find a weathered birdhouse,
    nailed onto a tree.

    -----------------------------------------------------

    Since the day we met,
    the creases from your smile,
    are still in my eyes.

    ---------------------------------------------

    Wearing her sweatshirt,
    nursing a cup of coffee,
    reading the Funnies.

    ------------------------------------------------

    Deep in the forest,
    Patches of stippled sunlight,
    Warm a leaf-strewn trail.

    ------------------------------

    A garden pathway,
    Lined with purple violets,
    Absorbs all sadness.

    -----------------------------------------

    At the sky's edges,
    mountaintops still pierce the clouds,
    to peek at heaven.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

    OH YOU GOT ME CRYIN....AGAIN!

    Wonderful

For heaven's sake; quoting me is oblivion. hahahah

I aint no poet but here goes:

    When in the course of

    Human events so to speak

    I cringe...I wonder

    Wondrous America

The New Year gives me some hope

    Selfish, shall survive!

    I wish a New Year

To all who might just appear

    To hope for a new...

    Unforeseen events

    Unforeseen currents surround

    Our real existence

    My meter's askance

My beat is not that profound

    But I am wanting

    I am so wanting

To be heard above the din

    Of folks who cant count

    hahahahaha

    The folks who can't count,
    are always told they don't count;
    votes prove otherwise.

    .

    hahahahahahhaahahahhahaha

    That's all I got.

    hahahahahahaah

    I had to come back.

    This was a wonderful exposition.

    Oxy and Moat were incredible.

Of course Mr. Smith is wonderful!

I just feel bad we do not get better airing here.

I ended with Dylan because there is poetry all around us.

    Does literary art prevail?

    Of course not.

    But there are pix here.

Why you choose to hilight me is beyond me and all expectations.

    Do not stop.

Some old friends show up here. I miss Cafe but is it thus because I am no longer the focus?

Just some feelings mixed up in thoughts.

What is poetry after all? Just feelings mixed up in thoughts?

    And though the masters

    Make the rules

    For the wise men

    and the fools

I got nothing Ma to live up to!

    Hahahah

I get stuck in politics and political heresy and political 'thought' and political advertisements.

Maybe this little blog within a blog provides us with another manner in which to view the universe.

Do not ever stop Mr. Smith.

Do not ever stop wishing for some exchange of real ideas.

    What is real?

    I dunno.

I have not read the entire file!

    The end

Okay, so my little Xmas story goes like this:  My sister came to pick me up VERY early on Saturday morning, December 22nd.   She had driven to Manhattan from Haddon Hts, New Jersey, (about a two hour drive), then she and I went to the diner on the corner, ate breakfast, and then set out for my niece's house near Harrisburg, PA.   It's a very long drive for me (and my Spondylitis), and an even longer drive for my older sister, but once we were through the Lincoln Tunnel, we set the radio to the all-Christmas Carol station and spent the next couple of hours singing along as loudly and as off-key as we wanted.  It was just us and we didn't care ... By the time we were getting near our destination, it was still only about 10:30 AM, but our breakfasts had worn off and we had a hankering for some milk shakes.   My sister, being a frequent visitor, knew the area well, and said that she knew a Red Robin restaurant where we could satisfy our milk shake cravings.  We pulled up, she went in ... and came back empty-handed.  Red Robin wasn't open yet.  We looked around and there were only two choices; McDonalds' and Chick-fil-a.   My sister, being a milk shake expert, couldn't abide Mickey D's shakes, so that left Chick-Fil-a.  Except ... being Liberals, we both had political objections and had vowed never to give them our business.  What to do ... After a few seconds of agonizing, my sister decided that we'd simply tell the person at Chick-fil-a how much we opposed the political views of their owner, and then we'd order the milk shakes.  So we did and got some for my niece and grand-nieces ... The person on the drive-thru smiled as if he'd had that happen before, gave us our milk shakes and we drove on our way.   The milk shakes were incredible, smooth, creamy and delicious.  It was then that we realized we were milk shake whores, willing to give up our political convictions for a thick milk shake.  They say every one has their price ... We discovered ours on the Saturday before Xmas near Mechanicsburg, PA.     The End.

    Desperate people,

    Dining just off the highway,

    Do desperate things.

    Indeed they do, moat.   :-)
