seems to me this is correct

partly because he hasn't the smarts or discipline to follow any program set up by others who might be able to effect this more shadily. He's more likely to make outrageous over the top "I am now the king, I reign forever" type statements, which would backfire.

Especially because, for the umpteenth time, he'll say or do anything for attention, and change the narrative the next day as well. I think Pierce is wrong. You can't judge anything from what he says, while it's never humorous, it is rarely reality either! 

Edit to add, he also said this just the other day, and I absolutely know that it not true, he would never stop talking to media people, he'd send spin in a bottle if he was stuck doing time on Devils Island.
