We are going to see several southern states object to AP History courses in the public high schools. They are not happy with history that don't cover American exceptionalism and their version of history. This also ties in with the common core battle. AP History Course is written by the College Boards to meet the standards of entry college level course. It is not the same people that wrote Common Core. AP courses help the student to earn college credits and is a great savings in college tuition.
Why would bright children be denied a chance to earn college credits? They are going to have to study history based on researched historical data and facts. Sure we have our dark past in history that needs to be studied.
Many parents are having trouble understanding common core math. The emphases is to teach the process of math and not just memorizing tables. We don't need fast computation because of modern calculators but we do need students to know how to apply math to science and engineering. I just simply watched you tube and looked at the way the problems were being broken down. A bowl full of lego blocks and math became fun.
This kind of political theater is to play up to the anti public education and boost charter schools support.
