Though I haven't read the book, not privy to a pre-publication version, I've been following Woodward's public statements and tweets and the like and I disagree with the implication here that he's sending an "under control" message. Sort of the opposite, he keeps sending messages that imply "danger, danger, warning, warning, really scary stuff going on here." To the point where someone cynical could think it's to increase sales.

The hurricane and what it might bring hurts my North Carolina home heart - Trump's FEMA scares me more than the storm.

my sympathies, I am already sad about what may come. Have spent some time inland parts southern border, round Charlotte, Rock Hill and also in SC, Greenville. I liked and always wanted to move on to explore the coast but hadn't been able.

My home now is Minnesota, but my heart still resides in the Tarheel state. I'm old enough to remember several hurricanes (none of which were fun), including some real heart-stoppers. This one scares me.

I'm becoming convinced Trump and henchmen did this to distract from the disastrous Kavanaugh hearings. The tone is "Trump's direction is ok if he wouldn't keep falling down", which is the farthest thing from the truth. But Kavanaugh has snuck through - we're on to tennis now, oops, that was yesterday, now the hurricane - forget about sober discussion of important appointments. Trump knows the news cycle will pass on *everything* he does.
