This is one problem with parliamentary systems. Conservative parties often unite with far right fringe parties to form a coalition. They often make terrible concessions to get that coalition. I've seen this play out often in Israel. One wonders what the DUP asked for to join the Conservatives.

Yes non compos mentis, as Boris would say. But it seems their priorities might be soft Brexit and money for Northern Ireland. Which are doable, and, for many of us, not a bad thing. Add to that the presence of the more powerful Scottish Tory delegation, who will also be pushing for soft Brexit. Not to mention that having a strong and smart Lesbian opposite you might temper your desire to get your bigotry-related predilictions onto the legislative agenda.
