The intra-Palestinian meeting in Moscow has precedent
— Hanna Notte (@HannaNotte) February 29, 2024
Russia's hosted such meetings in the past, most recently Feb 2019
Russia has long lamented the US' "monopolization" of the peace process & tried to carve out a niche for itself: mediating among the disunited Palestinians/2

A mass expulsion of Afghan migrants could destabilize the region and fuel radicalization. The West should pressure Islamabad to change course.
All eyes on #Chad right now
Chad has two internet trunks coming into the country: One from the Red Sea via Sudan; the other from Cameroon. Not possible for the totality of the country's internet network to be shut unless done centrally. A lot of rumors swirling; few facts. https://t.co/N6bDJZ2ixO

Did you read this yet? Talk about meddling, geez. I found it riveting. Sposed to be a mini career bio, but the lede is not overstatement, it's U.S.political history, too (as in: serious editing of some historical tomes required):
The Plot Against America, By Franklin Foer @ The Atlantic for March issue
Decades before he ran the Trump campaign, Paul Manafort’s pursuit of foreign cash and shady deals laid the groundwork for the corruption of Washington.

Wow, you overtrumped my little article a bit harsh, eh? No, I barely understood Manafort before this.
So back to my earlier question with much more import now - who else has Manafort been paing ot loby/influence, and *with whose money*.

Comes to mind LULU should read it. It makes very clear what changed from Carter onward as regarding someof the main concerns of the Chomsky fans and Consortium News types.
As I've mentioned before, I don't like labeling people evil. This comes from learning about Lee Atwater types who confess and repent on their deathbed. Still, I wonder about him, whether that worked out, or whether he really did sell his soul to the devil and therefore is still burning in hell despite repenting.
And that was without knowing how much he was involved in the growth of foreign lobbying as is revealed here.
P.S. Interesting side note: Prince Bandar, always international man of mystery, is right there at the start.

Speaking of Bandar Busgh et al, might also make you wonder what kind of dirty ops were going on around 9/11 -noting the number of people not troubled by a conscience.

Glad I saw your comment, since I almost posted it "In The News". An absolutely amazing piece. There's something very important that we don't know yet about how and why he ended up on the Trump campaign, and I'm willing to bet Mueller will explain it all soon enough. First get Gates to flip on Manafort, then squeeze Manafort to ... get Trump? Or potentially more?
by barefooted on Sun, 02/25/2018 - 7:17pm
Or maybe Mueller cares more about the effect of Manafort types on our system than he does about about Trump and Jared. Maybe he'd like to see lobbyists have more fear of prosecution in order to stop and start to reverse the trajectory that happened since 1980 and is described so well here. It is afterall the kind of thing Putin understands, what an oligarchy has done and can do. That's what I was thinking after I read it, to be honest: it's going to be less about Trump and more about corruption of our system. Is just guessing, though.
by artappraiser on Sun, 02/25/2018 - 8:03pm
You mean who brought him to the dance? After this article, it'd be amazing if Manafort *didn't* hook up with Trump ( and they did long before), but probably an interesting anecdote waiting anyway, I.e. over which particular deal of money running, real estate fraud or politics...
