Mr Monbiot makes some good points, especially in regards to the need for a new direction now that the Milton Friedman model has been given a try and has not delivered the results it promised to the actual producers and consumers of the global market.
But I am uncertain of the utility of Monbiot's designation of "Neoliberalism" as the essential descriptor of the ideology under discussion. It sounds a lot like what used to be referred to as "Capitalism."
