[.....] Ryan told House Republicans of his decision at a conference meeting on Wednesday morning in the Capitol’s basement. Ryan told colleagues that he came to Congress single and now has three teenagers who have only known him as a “weekend dad” their entire lives.

He said he would “run through the tape” and work hard until his term ends in January. But he added that he wanted to spend more time with his family [....]

A top Ryan aide texted me this morning: “It’s going to be a civil war. No one knows how bad this will get. Kevin [McCarthy] is such a fucking moron he’s going to get rolled by Pelosi every day. FML.” Another Ryan insider echoed the “civil war” sentiment, and noted that Ryan’s decision will set off still another wave of Republican retirements.

Events: Heavy gunfire is occuring around the area of the U.S. Embassy and residential compounds adjacent to the Trutier area of Tabarre. All Embassy personnel have been instructed to remain indoors and shelter-in-place until further notice. All others should avoid the area.

Actions to take:

Avoid the area;

Avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people;

Do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; and

If you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area.
