Chuck Schumer resurrects a tried-and-true-(and-tired) catchphrase to drive Democrats economic agenda.
Americans are clamoring for bold changes to our politics and our economy. They feel, rightfully, that both systems are rigged against them, and they made that clear in last year’s election. American families deserve a better deal so that this country works for everyone again, not just the elites and special interests. Today, Democrats will start presenting that better deal to the American people.

And Pelosi published in the Washington Post:
Americans deserve better than the GOP agenda, so we’re offering a better deal

The Blue Dog piece is interesting, it is clearly intentional push back against the using Dem zeitgeist of an energized left; more:
It is not clear yet whether the Schumer and Pelosi message machine is including their concerns, or has dismissed them, need more details.

I'm not sure that Blue Dogs and today's "left" are incompatible. Blue Dogs tend to be socially conservative and economically progressive. Bernie-supporting leftists who want to re-prioritize economic issues may find much in common with them.
PS The whole left-right spectrum ain't what it used to be

There is a "Better Deal" website. And according to Ben Mathis Lilley @ Slate, a Liz-Warren-style pro-consumer agenda is a big part of their plan (and Liz was @ the press conference)

And fix those little child-proof prescription bottles! Let's focus on the better! Let's focus on the art of the deal! And the New Deal. the New New Art of the Better Deal! Let's mention the middle class 192 more times! And waits on airlines and bumped seats! I'm feeling empowered!
