When I read stuff like this, I am unfortunately reminded how allowing JFK to appoint RFK as his attorney general is such a bad precedent, will always be used as a "both sides do it" point of argument.

Where does one draw the line in the spectrum from past business or political relationships to friendlies and relatives?

Similar but different because a policy advocacy situation is not the same as a legal appt. :Bill Clinton having Hillary do the Health Care tax force got us Jvanka involved in policy making appts. without that much outrage.

Rand Paul ‘disturbed’ by attorney general nominee’s views

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Sunday said he hasn't decided whether to support President Donald Trump's pick to be the next attorney general because of concerns about privacy issues.

Speaking on NBC's "Meet the Press," Paul said he's concerned that William Barr, who was attorney general from 1991 to 1993, "has been a big supporter of the PATRIOT Act, which lowered the standard for spying on Americans, and he even went so far as to say the PATRIOT Act was pretty good — we should go much further."

He also alleged that Barr is a "big fan" of seizing people’s property through civil asset forfeiture.

"I haven't made a decision about him, but I can‘t tell you — the first things I've learned about him being for more surveillance of Americans is very, very troubling," Paul said [....]

Events: Heavy gunfire is occuring around the area of the U.S. Embassy and residential compounds adjacent to the Trutier area of Tabarre. All Embassy personnel have been instructed to remain indoors and shelter-in-place until further notice. All others should avoid the area.

Actions to take:

Avoid the area;

Avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people;

Do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; and

If you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area.
