[From LisB] Hello, Paradigm family. It’s with much sadness that I must inform you of a huge loss. Our beloved friend “othepeoplechoose” has passed away.
The People Choose, as you know, migrated here after Josh Marshall closed the reader’s cafe at Talking Points Memo, and through the years he has become a very close friend to several of us here. Most especially Dick Day. TPC, as we affectionately called him, shared emails and phone calls with Dick and I on a regular basis, and earlier this year he came up with the idea of flying Dick out from Minnesota so that the two of them could finally meet. TPC also invited me, and was ecstatic when Dick and I both agreed to make the trip up to Syracuse for this Labor Day weekend. TPC made all sorts of plans for us (we were to visit the State Fair, attend a concert, and have a beautiful dinner together this past Friday night). I can’t tell you how much the three of us were looking forward to this trip.

Thank you for cross-posting this, Donal. I appreciate it. TPC had many friends at the cafe and I should've let everyone here know of his passing. Thank you all for the very kind comments here and at Paradigm.
Today I heard from another of TPC's sisters but was in the midst of taking Mom to a doctor's appointment, so the call went to my voicemail. John's sister was about to attend the wake and couldn't call me back but it's my hope we will hook up tomorrow. Meantime, I have to return to NY to finish packing up and emptying my apartment in Pelham and then I'll be moving in with Mom here in PA officially by the 15th of next week. I'll try to get online and check emails and posts each night.
Dick Day will be getting back online by the end of the week and I expect he'll be publishing a tribute to TPC both here and at Paradigm and will be so glad to hear from you all.
Thanks again.

Thanks for checking in, Lis. I commented on Paradigm, but just want to extend my sympathies again. My best to you and Dick. My heart goes out to John's family.
I look forward to reading Dick's piece. We've missed both of you.

Leaves me speechless. Warm thoughts to Lis, Dick, and well ... everyone, really.
Terribly sad.

Hello everybody. I just wanted to share with you that I have spoken with TPC's sister Carol today, and she shared with me the link to John's obituary page at the Syracuse online paper.
She encourages all of you to please post comments at the Guest Book linked there, and thanks all of us for being such good online friends to her brother.
