Some chafe at life under Vladimir Putin's rule, but for many others, economic limitations are the prime motivator. Experts say the numbers have reached demographically dangerous levels.
Reporting from Moscow—...Roughly 1.25 million Russians have left the country in the last 10 years, Sergei Stepashin, head of the national Audit Chamber, told the radio station Echo of Moscow. The chamber tracks migration through tax revenues. He said the exodus is so large, it's comparable in numbers to the outrush in the wake of the Bolshevik Revolution. "About as many left the country after 1917," he said.
They don't leave like their predecessors of the Soviet 1970s and '80s, with no intention to return. They don't sell their apartments, dachas and cars. They simply lock the door, go to the airport and quietly leave....

Part of the problem is that these droves are every color except green. Russian Droves have poor fuel efficiency and are more expensive than they have any right to be, but historically they have always been plentiful in Russia. Losing all those droves when the middle class disappears in them can only lead to severe problems for both Russia and the rest of the world. Droves are gonna start costing a lot of money.
As the middle class disappears from Russia in droves the price of a way out for those that remain will rise beyond the reach of all but approximately one percent who will, ironically, be the ones happy to stay where they are. At least for the time being. Many of those who remain will begin to develop a bad attitude and take to the streets to protest the direction their country is taking. Some of the more observant will repeat the obvious, “Our country went to the right, man, way right, and now we are all left. We are the “Left Behind and we am pissed”.
These masses who are getting into droves are doing so because they have become disgruntled. The phenomena of the class action of masses of people whose attitude suffered after having had their gruntle taken away has long been described by scientists expert in fields ranging from anthropology through psychology and arithmetic, but has only recently gained widespread acceptance acceptance among the general public based on the development of a suitable acronym. These disgruntled commoners are said to be suffering from “Bad Tude Syndrome” or “BTS” . It wasn't always this way, say the scientists. Mostly it has come about since the onset of ANGST among the younger population. [Acquire no-gruntle syndrome thingy]
Historians have noted that during a previous outbreak of BTS in Russia the masses went on a rampage looking for what they considered their rightful share of gruntle and wrecked a lot of the nice stuff the one percent had stacked to the ceiling in their multiple gated castles and the whole thing turned into a big pain in the ass [PITA] for all involved. The right-thinking intellectuals mostly say it couldn't happen here, though, because just like in Russia, winter arrives, complete with a chill factor that was not even known to the Russian serfs, and the 99% get froze out in one more way because the 99% in our great country, the greatest country ever, a country of rugged individualists, are a bunch of do-nothing wooses. [Please excuse all the scientific jargon]
Winter came on in Russia and even the good doctor Zhivago got chilled to the bone and ended up on a bus to nowhere. Public transportation to nowhere, that’s where BTS leads for the masses and PITA is the price everyone pays. But what the hey, The one percent has gotta do what its gotta do and the rest of us gotta do what we gotta do even if what we gotta do is without. I heard it in a song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUL68ZeclcA&feature=related Or maybe saw it in a movie. WHATEVER.
