The Bishop and the Butterfly: Murder, Politics, and the End of the Jazz Age

The Fire Next Time is Now

Sometimes what seems to be more of the same is a "whole new ballgame".

As I've written here before that , unrecognized,  occurred when Reagan reduced the top marginal tax rate from 70% to 28% which made it possible for banks to pay bonuses large enough so bankers calculated that it was economic to risk their banks to Greenspan's shocked surprise.

Citizens United is another one of those seminal moments. Some of us dream here about revitalizing the Democratic Party after it is freed from the hated Obama, ain't gonna happen. Obama's campaign is going to be so thoroughly outspent that not only will he be defeated but  Congressional democrats  will be an endangered species.

I'm properly accused  of being defeatist for expressing this view. But the facts are the facts. If nothing else maybe we can stop lacerating one another here if we realize that we're all  going down together next November. For a long ,long time
