But I recall this tune from so long ago...

THANK YOU DAVE!
You are still being heard!

Oh I love this tune. Though most of his pieces were over my head. His Jaz was out there to be sure.
Oh and I emailed you Dickon.
Thanks

My Dad gave me a transistor radio when I was ten.
This is the second song I ever heard on that magnificent machine AM. ha
As I listen to this song today, I am taken aloft into some place far far away!

When Brubeck graduated UOP, they sent him a letter asking him not to mention this fact because they didn't want to be associated with his crazy music. About ten years ago, at the tender age of 80ish, UOP and Brubeck founded the Brubeck Institute. I have a friend who was lucky enough to work with him while she studied at UOP. She simply can't say enough about the experience.
These days, he's properly regarded as a legend of west coast jazz. RIP, Bru. You were the coolest cat in the room before anyone knew it.

WONDERFUL!
I suppose after a couple hours listening to my own blog, I will finally retreat to youtube!
It is fun just watching him play the piano!

There's very little I like about Jazz. Sometimes I think it was written just to torment me. But this I like--and always have.
